Twenty-one

5 years later...

"Arata, come down Uncle Genma is taking you to school," I said aloud as I finished up breakfast.

Arata raced down the stairs with a smile on his face. Aki and Genma had a thing for spoiling him so every time they were mentioned he was super excited.

"Hey hey be careful." I lightly scolded as he ran down the stairs. "Sorry Mom!"

We had also moved into a bigger house one suitable for us all. Aki and Genma had also moved in.

Over the years we had all grown close, Genma and Aki were in a relationship now and I was their biggest supporter.

Arata was extremely advanced for his age and he was almost an identical copy of his father. Yet he didn't resemble him one bit.

He is the brightest kid I know, meanwhile his father is so cruel. "Mom I lost my cleats!"

"They are by the front door, baby." I laughed. Aki walked into the kitchen with a very clingy Genma.

"You have to take Arata to school today and I have work!" She attempted to sling him off but he held onto her tighter.

I laughed at the sight of the two. My two friends are happy and Arata is as well.

"Also this Saturday remember we have that dinner date," Genma said to us.

"Speaking of date~" She teased me suspiciously. "No no, and no again. Aki, he is my co-worker!"

"Yolo." She stretched and laughed. "Arata, are you ready kiddo?" Genma laughed at my embarrassed flustered state.

He stuffed the last bite of food into his mouth and grabbed his bag raving Genma to the truck.

"All I'm saying is that you should get back out there. You are too beautiful to be mopping and worrying. We have all been safe for at least 5 years now-"

"That can change at any given moment, Aki. I understand you are trying to help but I'm fine."

"Yeah, you are. Too fine to be sitting in this house alone!" She said causing us both to laugh.

"Anyway, I have to go run some errands today." She nodded.

"Well I'll see you later, I have to head to work." She went back to her room to get ready and I did the same.

Aki worked at an interior design place, Genma was still undercover but he didn't do it as much now since he wanted to be around Arata as much as possible.

I worked at a big company doing office work. It was boring but it paid pretty well. I even met a guy there but again he's my co-worker.

I drove to the cafe where we always met. I couldn't help the uneasy feeling I felt but I still went.

"Hey y/n, it's great to see you." He acknowledged. "Likewise, Detective Ibiki."

"So how is everything- You know from the last time we spoke."

The last time we spoke I wasn't in a good mindset. I felt terrible. The uchiha left a permanent scar on me and every time I left home I felt anxious about every little thing.

"Yeah much better." I smiled. "How's the knucklehead?"

I pulled out my phone showing him a photo of Arata. "His teachers say he is very advanced for his age. He even has a hobby of playing baseball."

"That's great." He smiled. "But as you know, I requested this meeting for a certain....reason..." I placed my coffee on the table and raised a brow.

"We are still trying to get you to testify. Before you say no..it's the only legal way we can get the retraining order-"

"Is there not a different way to do it- any other way- I-" I panicked.

I can't face him. Not after all of this and I'm not just getting the restraining order for myself but for Arata as well.

"There is proof that he is a violent person y/n. You alone are proof. I have the clip of him getting you from the station years back and also how the former police chief let him get you. Also, the tape shows clear signs."

"What if it doesn't work Ibiki? Then what? How will I be able to protect Arata when Madara knows about him."

"Is there anyone else willing to testify?"

"I don't want to put Genma and Aki through any trouble. They are enjoying their life and I can't let my problems interfere."

"I'll see what I can do y/n. We will meet again one month from now."

And just like that, we parted ways, leaving me in my thoughts.
