Lucy
I just lay in bed, trying to fall asleep. I have my eyes closed, I've switched positions in the bed about 20 times already. I've tried everything to fall asleep, but I guess the caffeine's doing its job for once.
Since I can't sleep I figure that I may as well utilise my time, and make Tim some food that he can re-heat when he gets home.
I stand at the island, wondering what I could make him until finally, I settle on Pasta. I grab the pasta out of the cupboard, and open the packet when suddenly there's a knock on the door.
I'm not expecting anyone, and Tim and Tamara have their own keys. It could just be someone at the wrong door.
I may as well check.
I creep over to the door and looked through the peephole, making sure that they can't tell I'm right there.
Outside there door stands a man and a massive package.
'Delivery!' he calls.
Strange.
I don't remember ordering anything. It could just be Tim's. After standing there for about two minutes I finally decide to open the door. Slowly, I pull it open, and I'm greeted by a smiling face.
'Hello?'
'Hi!'
The man smiles before continuing.
'I have this package for door 201 *The rest of Lucy's address*. This is the correct place right?'
'Yes, it is.'
I read the mans name tag. His name is David.
'Is there a name on the order... David?'
He most likely has the wrong address, but I need to see whether or not Tim actually ordered it.
'Erm its Tim b.? I presume that's not you?'
he asks me, slightly confused.
'No, that's my boyfriend. Ill bring it inside for him.'
I look back into the apartment. There's no way it will fit in the living room.
'Give me a minute to make some space for the box.'
I smile and then close the door.
I decide to move a small end table out of the way, that way I can leave the box there.
I look back at the closed door. Something doesn't feel right.
I pull out my phone and quickly call Tim.
'Straight to voicemail' I sigh.
'Hey its Lucy!' I say in the voicemail
'there's a package outside and a worker named David. He said its under your name so I'm bringing it in. Love you!'
The message ends.
Finally, with the end table out of the way, I head back to the door and try to pull the box inside.
'Wow, its heavier than it looks!'
I let out an awkward laugh as I look at him. What did Tim order that's this heavy?
'I'd be happy to help push it inside miss..?'
'Chen.'
I smile in gratitude of his offer. I'd prefer to do it alone, so I don't have people in the apartment, but to be honest, this is probably my only option.
'And yes, thank you I could use some help!' I finally say.
David helps me push the package inside the apartment.
'Finally!' I laugh.
'You have a nice place miss Chen!' David smiles at me as he steps closer. I don't know what he's doing but I start to feel slightly uncomfortable.
'Please could you sign this?' he asks as he hands me a piece of paper.
Phew.
'Yep, let me put it on the island though, my signature sucks when I'm not leaning on a table!'
That was such a lie but I just don't like people coming close to me, not after.. Caleb.
I walk over to the island and David follows. I lean over on the island and start writing as David speaks again
'I'll leave a note your boyfriend. He's going to want to know where you went.'
I don't think I heard him right. I put down my pen and turn around. That's when I see it.
The gun.
*bang*
The next thing I know, I'm on the ground, being dragged away as my vision blurs and my ears ring.
Then it all goes black.
