Tim
Here I am, pulling Lucy out of a barrel for the second time in both our lives. A few other officers, including Angela and Nyla, helped me gently set her down on the floor before we examined her condition.
'How bad is it?' Aaron yells, as him and Celina rush beside me.
'Not good.' Angela answers for me. She knows I'm not up for talking.
She's covered in blood from the bleeding in her stomach area, and cuts around her body. Some stitching had come undone, which I presume to be from David, and all that remains of her left abdomen, is a large, bloody hole, and right beneath that, her DOD tattoo. Her skin is pale, and her clothes are torn all over, exposing her wound, kneecaps, half her thigh and her shoulder.
'I need someone to put pressure on her wound before I start CPR or she'll bleed out.' I called as I look around. Angela removes her jumper and places it over the gunshot. Nyla runs over to my side, ready to switch in and continue the CPR if my attempt ends unsuccessful. God I hope it doesn't. I feel a tear drip down my face as I look down at Lucy. She has a blood gash on her face, and slowly, drop by drop, blood pools on the floor. Here I go.
I start by quickly completing DR CABC, although most of the things I have to look for are quite obvious. Nothing that poses as a danger to me, and she's definitely not responding to me. She's bleeding heavily from her abdomen, but Angela's applying pressure and I've unblocked her airways by gently lifting her chin up. She's not breathing at the moment, and I haven't been able to find a pulse. Nothing at all. This isn't good.
'7-Lincon-7 I need an RA to my location immediately, for a wounded officer, 32 year old female, GSW to the left abdomen..' He looks at me
'Not conscious, Not breathing' I choke out, letting a tear roll down my cheek before I begin CPR.
'Not concious, Not breathing.' He repeats into the radio.
'ETA 7 minutes.' The EMTs respond over the radio.
'We don't have 7 minutes, can you arrive any faster?' He asks, panic evident in his voice.
'Yes, Sir, we're taking a different route, ETA 3 minutes.'
The silence is loud as everyone stands around me, tense, waiting to see if Lucy will pull through. Waiting to see if I can save her.
I continue to perform CPR, each chest compression and breath becoming harder and harder. I can feel myself starting to become a bit lightheaded, but I have to muscle through. I refuse to loose the woman I love in this way, I'm not going to let the Wrights succeed. I will find David, and he is going to pay for this. I won't let him get away with what he's done.
30 compressions,
2 breaths,
30 compressions,
2 breaths,
30 compressions,
2 breaths,
Lucy
'TIM? TIM!' I'm yelling, but nobody can hear me. It's so annoying.
I look around the darkness, but I'm alone. I take a few steps forward in this strange, corridor-like room, trying to see where I could be. I have no idea. I take a turn to the left, and see a strange sign. Platform four. I'm in a train station. Why. A noise echoes through the tunnel, and I know what it is. It's Tim's voice.
'TIM! WHERE ARE YOU?'
He's still talking. But not to me. What is going on? I run towards the sound of his voice, and I feel the ground move beneath me. I look down, then back up, and the tunnels changed. It's split into two paths.
At the end of each path, I can see a door. One echoes with the sound of Tim's voice, and the other end is a warm, glowing light. I look over at the light, admiring the warm glow it's giving out, as slowly, it starts to feel like it's dragging me towards it, pulling me in. I want Tim, not this. I turn around, scrambling back down the tunnel, towards the sound of Tim's voice, as the vacuuming winds grow stronger. I have to get to Tim. I sprint in the direction of Tim's voice, slipping up a few times and almost loosing to the wind, but finally, I cling to the handle of the door, and leap through it.
