Not Again

Chapter Seventeen - 'Is this the man'

Lucy

'Shit' I mutter under my breath as I immediately sit up. 'C-can you check who it is?'

What if David's back for me? I mean he is just above me! He can't do anything though, Angela and Nyla are here, it's safe.. right?

Angela draws her gun and looks through the little peephole in the door.

The knock comes again and Angela puts her gun away. 'Come in!' She yells as I ask who it is for a second time.

'It's just Tim, don't worry.'

I put my hands on my head as I fall back on the pillow. 'Oh thank God'

Tim

I walk in the room to see Lucy laying down with her hands on her head. 'Uhh is she okay?' I whisper to Angela as I walk past her. She shakes her hand in the way you do when you're trying to say kind of.

It's not the answer I wanted, but it's better than a no.

'Hey Tim'

'Hey Luce! Are you alright?'

'Depends on your definition of the word' She says as she sits up.

A/n See what I did there? Same line Tim used in S1 E20 'Free fall' aka my fav episode for some reason...

'We'll give you two some time.' Nyla says as her and Angela leave, carefully closing the door behind them.

'Guess who's most likely stuck on desk duty forever.' She sarcastically smiles

'I can ask Grey if you can ride with me if you want.'

'I can't set foot on the streets until I'm cleared for active duty, and looking at this, it's going to be ages.' She slightly raises her arm, showing me the large stitches that run down it. She's right about not being able to go out for a while, but I'm not going to tell her that. It'll crush the only hope she has left.

'LUCY, IT'S NYLA' She yells from outside the door.

'Yeah, come in!' She replies and the door opens.

'Sorry, figured I wouldn't knock because.. yeah. I got you the case. You can always hand it to me if you need a break.' She says and gives Lucy a folder.

'Thanks Nyla.' Lucy opens the folder and then looks back at Nyla.

'What's that?' I ask them.

'Oh it's one of my cases.' Lucy tells me.

'You're supposed to be resting Lucy, not working.'

'It's fine Tim, don't worry. I need a distraction.'

'Nyla, why would you give her a case while she's in hospital? She's not meant to be working.'

'Hey, she requested it, I just brought it.'

She can't be serious.

'Well, I'll see you two later. And Tim, if she tells me you took the case away from her, I'll make sure to bring her more behind your back.' She winks as she closes the door.

'Alright, what's the case?'

'Why? What are you planning?' She asks me, as if I'm plotting something evil against her.

'Uhh, to help? If you have to do the work, at least accept the help.'

She rolls her eyes at me as she slightly sits herself up 'Fine'

'So, what have we got?'

Lucy

'Missing teenager, Kayla Lancaster, turns up after a week at her parents house with severe injuries. Her
parents had been away for the past 2 weeks and claim to be unaware that their daughter had been missing, but something's not right. Their both in custody now, as leaving a minor alone is still illegal.'
