Ashleigh had dropped Karen, Harry, and Denny back at Athena's...

She pulled up outside her and Buck's apartment, signing softly and climbing out of the car.

She walked into the apartment, slamming the door with her foot, and Buck stood up from the bed.

"Uh, hey. You're back."

"Hi." She mumbled, walking upstairs to their bedroom.

"I, uh, thought you said, like, you'll be back an hour ago."

"Yeah, I dropped Karen, Denny, and Harry back at Athena's, then went for a drive." She said.

"What do you wanna do for dinner?"

"Oh, I've already eaten. I have an early drive tomorrow." She says.

"Okay, what's... what's going on? Now... you're skipping town?"

"I'm not skipping town, Buck." She tells him.

"Ash, if you wanna break up with me, then just..."

"Who said anything about breaking up? It's just for a few days. We can talk about it when I get back."

"No! No, I'm sorry, but we

"No! No, I'm sorry, but we... we can't. We're gonna talk about it now, 'cause if you're gonna be weird and distant and then just take off, you cannot expect me not to worry. At least tell me where you're going."

"Danielle called me and saw I wasn't coping, so she said I could stay with her for a few days and let me clear my head away from L.A." She says.

A few minutes later, they were sitting down...

"I was on video call the other day, and she obviously saw the way I was reacting. Plus, it's Sophia's birthday coming up, so we were gonna do something for it." She says.

"Oh."

"Yeah, I'm not really coping unless I'm at work and busy, then I don't think about it so much. But going back to the place where..." She said.

"Wait, well, let me come with you at least."

"No. I don't want that. This isn't your childhood trauma, Buck; it's mine. I need to deal with this on my own. Uh, thanks, though." She said, smiling softly.

Later that night, Bobby was watching the videotape from the casino

Later that night, Bobby was watching the videotape from the casino...

Athena walked out of the bedroom, signing deeply and seeing him.

"Bobby. What are you doing up?"

"I sent Ash a copy of this earlier, and she saw something. You gotta check it out." He says.

"No, no, no, no, I'm not checking anything out. Come to bed. Those tapes will be there in the morning."

"It'll only take a second. Come on." He tells her.

"No, no."

She signed, walking over to him.

"Okay, here he is right after he hit the table." He said.

"Mm-hmm."

"Now, security scrambles as soon as they know that there's a robbery happening, right?" He asked.

"Mm-hmm."

"Here they are right on his heels." He tells her.

"As they should be."

"Okay, she saw this. Watch this." He muttered, removing the tape and putting another one in.

She signed deeply, sitting on the edge of the chair.

"Here he is, seconds later." He mumbled, pointing at the screen.

"Where are the guards?"

"Exactly." He says.

"Run that back."

He rewinded the video.

"How'd he get such a huge lead?"

"Uh, Ash said that was the $1.2 million question." He murmured.

"She thinks it was an inside job?"

"Well, I told Ash everything that was said, and, well, Toni said someone would have to approve the extra chips on the table, so Ash said security probably knew. And I think she's right." He muttered.

She stared at the screen.

"Ash also said they stop right here." He said.

"And they do. Look at that. They stopped. I mean, maybe they did it on purpose."

"Inside job. Eliminate the impossible, and only the improbable remains." He mumbled.

"Oh, yeah. O... okay, Sherlock."

He chuckled.

"All right, run that back."

She stood up, pulling a chair around while sitting down, and he tried pulling the tape out, hearing a sound.

"No, no, no, come on." He muttered, pulling the tape out, seeing it destroyed.

"Mm, I don't suppose there's any way you could fix that."

"Well, I mean, I could try to piece it together, but..." He said.

She laughed.

"Or there is another way we could test out Ash's theory." He says.

"What other way?"

"Rob the casino." He tells her.

The next morning, Buck, Eddie, and Hen were leaning against the fire truck...

"From the neighbourhood?" Eddie asked.

"Yep. That's all she said. Like he was some guy she used to see on the corner or something." Hen says.

"She used to definitely see him all right." Eddie said, looking around.

"Right? I wasn't just imagining that." Hen tells him.

"Clive and Toni were definitely a thing. And I mean, like, a big-time, long-lost-love kind of thing. My abuela would eat this up. She loves a good telenovela." Eddie says.

"Oh, 'cause, uh, 'cause you don't? Come on, I know you watch 'em with Christopher." Buck said.

"That's how we practice our Spanish." Said Eddie.

"Uh-huh." Buck muttered.

"Real question is: what happens next in the story?" Asked Eddie.

"Well, I... I do have his number. I could call him. I mean, just to see how he's doing after his fall." Hen says.

"Of course." Eddie mumbled.

"Whoa, hold on, you don't know why they broke up, right? I mean... I mean, what if there's some deep trauma that shouldn't be poked at?"
