Athena, Bobby and the 118 "speed" to the rescue to save a family whose pick-up truck has been rigged with a pipe bomb which will detonate if the vehicle slows under 55 miles an hour. Meanwhile, Eddie has a rough transition into his new job, Ashleigh and Eddie kiss and Ashleigh struggles with what to do... and Ashleigh is reluctant to accept her new partner in Hen's absence.
Buck and Ashleigh arrived home from their weekend away...
Ashleigh was on FaceTime with Danielle and her parents, talking about the wedding.
At a birthday party, the birthday girl's parents were on the grass...
"I don't remember ordering so many balloons."
"Ah, relax, baby. It's gonna be great." He says.
"Yeah, but where is she? Her entire court is waiting."
"Well, you know your daughter. She likes to make an entrance." He said.
"Right. And I know her papi, too, who likes to make a big show out of everything. Miguel, what did you do?"
Miguel nodded at the band, and they began playing different music.
"It was all your baby girl and a little me." He tells her.
"Oh, my God!""Isn't it amazing?" He asked.
"That isn't safe."
"Baby, it's fine. Look. There's four ropes, and, no, nothing's gonna happen." He muttered.
"She looks beautiful. You look beautiful."
The wind began picking up, and the four guys held onto the rope tightly.
"Hold her!"
The girl in the balloon's mouth opened, gasping loudly and seeing a body, and she screamed.
Dispatch: "911. What's your emergency?"
Woman: "It's my birthday! And I think I just saw a dead guy!"
The 118 arrived on the scene...
"Through here, through here." Miguel said, holding up his hand and running towards them.
"Hey." Bobby says.
"The country club said the building's been vacant for repairs. That's why nobody heard him hit the roof." Said Miguel.
"Do you know when this happened?" Bobby asked.
"No. I saw a crew up there this morning." Miguel tells him.
"So, no more than a few hours. All right. Keep everybody back." Bobby said.
Miguel began speaking Spanish.
"Got your med kit?" Ashleigh asked, climbing out of the ambulance and slamming the door.
"Not my first rodeo."
Ashleigh walked ahead, leaving the new paramedic to follow her.
"Jonah, Ash, you take the roof. Buck, we're gonna come at him on the inside." Said Bobby.
"All right. Up we go, Monday." Ashleigh muttered, putting on her helmet.
"Name's Jonah, and you know that. Why do you keep calling me Monday?" Asked Jonah.
"'Cause there's a new one of you every shift. To me, you're Monday." Ashleigh mumbled, climbing the ladders.
Jonah and Ashleigh kneeled beside the man.
"He went clear through the roof. Sir? Sir? Can you hear me? I got a pulse." Ashleigh says.
"Please... help me."
"Easy. Don't move. You don't want to exacerbate your injuries." Jonah said.
"What's your name?" Asked Ashleigh.
"Lenny."
"Paragliding? What happened?" Jonah asked, putting a neck brace on him.
"Wind picked up. Tried to avoid some... power lines and lost control."
"Pulse is 130. BP's 105/60. Breathing is fast, but his lungs sound clear." Ashleigh tells him.
"Opening a line. Pushing ten of morphine. Hang in there, Lenny. I'm giving you some of the good stuff. Pretty soon you won't feel a thing." Jonah says.
"Already can't feel my legs."
"Lenny, can you wiggle your fingers for me?" Ashleigh asked.
Lenny wiggled his fingers.
"How about this? Can... can you feel that?" Ashleigh asked, putting her hands on either side of him.
"Yeah."
"Good." Ashleigh mumbled.
"Lumbar injury? Spinal compression?" Jonah asked, staring at her.
"Possibly." Ashleigh says.
"What if my legs are completely gone?"
"Don't worry. Don't think you'll be talking to us at all. We'll have a visual soon enough, okay?" Asked Ashleigh.
Ashleigh: "Cap, how are we looking down there?"
Bobby: "Almost in position."
"Uh, hey, Cap, I don't want to be insensitive, but, uh, do his legs look really short? Oh..." Buck muttered.
Bobby: "Ash, Jonah, get down here right now."
Ashleigh and Jonah stood beside Bobby and Buck.
"Bilateral open knee dislocated. The impact forced the femurs down through the knee. Landed on his feet, and his upper legs kept going." Ashleigh said.
"Thinking it's better now that he can't feel them." Jonah says.
"Blood loss isn't that bad, considering. Lucky he didn't sever his femoral arteries." Said Ashleigh.
"Do we reset them here?" Jonah asked, staring at Ashleigh.
"Are you an idiot? Absolutely not. You know better than to attempt that out in the field." Ashleigh muttered.
"I heard you like to push the envelope. Something about having your hand inside a guy's torso for two hours." Jonah says.
"Let's get one thing straight. I don't like you. That's an entirely different envelope. Grab the splints." Ashleigh tells him.
Jonah: "Ready for extraction, Cap."
Bobby placed something over Lenny, and Buck cut around him.
Ashleigh and Jonah pushed Lenny out on a gurney with a blanket over his body.
And everyone clapped.
