The members of the 118 race to rescue a man who claims he was carjacked, shot and buried alive. Then, they arrive at a fine where the owner thinks her roommate is a ghost. Hen receives a visit from the past and everyone are still concerned that Ashleigh is still haunted by visions of Jeffery.
May: "911. What's your emergency?"
She heard a man breathing heavily on the line.
May: "Is someone there?"
Man: "Help me. I think I'm dying."
May: "Can you tell me your address?"
Man: "I'm not anywhere. Ah, I'm bleeding. Yeah. I think I was shot."
May: "Okay. Can you tell me your name?"
Man: "Edgar."
May: "Okay, Edgar. You said you don't know where you were?"
Edgar: "Woods. Last thing I remember."
May: "Are there any landmarks around you? Something to help narrow down your location?"
Edgar: "It's too dark. I think I'm underground. I think I'm buried alive."A helicopter flew above the ground...
Man: "118, this is Fire 1. We're looking for a needle in a haystack out here."
"All right, victim's name is Edgar Hill. He told dispatch that he was carjacked, got shot, and was buried in a sort of coffin out here. Based on the size of an average male, that box is probably 86 by 30 inches. That's 45 feet of cubic space, most of which is taken up by Edgar." Bobby says.
"So he's got ten minutes to an hour's worth of air left." Ashleigh said.
"We don't know how long he's been underground, right?" Asked Buck.
"Or which piece of ground he's under." Ashleigh said.
"Cell towers can only limit the search by so much." Said Bobby.
"Hey, Cap, do we know how serious that gunshot wound is? Blood loss may have gotten him already." Ashleigh tells him.
"Dispatch has him on the line. Hopefully they can keep him talking." Bobby says.
"And not hyperventilating." Ashleigh mumbled.
Edgar was breathing heavily.
Edgar: "There's not enough air in here. You got to get me out of here."
May: "Edgar, stay calm."
Edgar: "Do not tell me to stay clam."
May: "Edgar, stop. I know you're scared, but staying calm will help you stay alive. The faster you breathe, the more oxygen you consume. And we want you to save as much oxygen as you can until they find you. You understand?"
Edgar: "Yeah. Okay."
Taylor: "A mystery is unfolding in the deep, dark woods at this hour, where it appears a man was shot and buried alive earlier tonight. A massive search and rescue effort is currently underway."
Pilot: "118, be advised. Infrared penetration is not optimal at this time."
Bobby: "Copy that, Fire 1. Keep doing what you can."
"Ash, you get anything on sound detection?" Asked Bobby.
"Nothing, Cap." Ashleigh said.
"If he's really out here, shouldn't he be able to hear us?" Hen asked.
May: "Edgar, rescuers are on the scene. Are you sure you can't hear them?"
Edgar: "Can barely hear anything. Oh, God! Oh! Oh, the damn gunshot! I'm gonna die in a box. Stupid... oh."
Edgar began punching the box above him, making a hole.
May: "Edgar, tell me what's happening?"
Edgar: "It's caving in!"
May: "118, I think our victim's running out of time. You got anything on your side?"
Bobby: "We thought we might have picked something up with the sound equipment, but then we lost it."
Ashleigh: "We're still scanning that same area. It's gone quiet."
May: "What if I gave you a sustained sound to listen for?"
Bobby: "If Ash is right about what she heard, we should be able to pinpoint his location."
May: "Yeah, I don't know if it'll be loud, but it won't be very long."
Ashleigh: "Copy that."
Bobby: "This is Captain 118. Be advised. We are conducting a targeted sound sweep. Fire 1, give us five minutes of breathing room."
Pilot: "Copy that, Captain."
Bobby: "Everybody else, hold the work. Radio silent until my call."
Ashleigh stared at the ground, placing the earpiece over her ear, hearing an owl hooting.
Ashleigh stepped forward, holding the sound machine out and listening carefully.
Ashleigh continued walking ahead of the firefighters, and the firefighters stood still staring at her, and she turned her head, looking at a spot.
May: "Edgar, here's what I need you to do. Take a deep breath and scream."
Edgar: "What?!"
May: "Scream, Edgar! Now!"
Edgar began screaming, and May flinched.
Ashleigh tilted her head, walking a few feet more than she had heard the faint yelling.
"There." Ashleigh muttered, staring at the ground.
Ashleigh dropped the weapon.
"There!" Ashleigh shouted, running over to the area and dropping to her knees, using her hands to dig.
They all began using shovels, and someone lifted the lid off the box.
"We got him, Cap! We got him." Said Ashleigh.
Bobby: "Dispatch, we located and extracted the victim. Beginning medical assessment."
May: "Copy that, 118. He's all yours."
Taylor: "We've had no official word from rescue personnel, but based on radio communication, the search has been going on for well... over..."
"Coming through!" Eddie shouted.
Taylor: "Uh, it appears the man has been found. There, you see him. First responders literally pulled him from the ground moments ago. We do not yet have the identity nor the condition of the victim, but he does appear to be alone."
Lou drove past Taylor, and he stopped climbing out.
Ashleigh pushed the bed into the ambulance, smiling at Buck, turning around, freezing in her tracks, and staring at Lou.
"Oh, Hey... Ash. How you doing? I haven't seen you since... what? You look like you've seen a ghost." Lou mumbled, laughing lightly.
"Uh..." Ashleigh whispered, standing there with her mouth open. "Uh, guys? Guys? Do you... do you see him?"
"Yeah, Ashleigh. It's Ransone." Bobby said.
"Hey, you all right?" Buck asked, placing a hand on her arm.
Ashleigh slowly reached forward, touching his chest, realising he was real.
"Sorry. I'm sorry. He said the lawyer killed you. He said you were dead. I thought he was telling the truth. I mean, I was in the boot of your car... uh, yeah, that car... sorry, excuse me." Ashleigh murmured, staring at the car and walking backwards.
"Oh, I completely forgot. Move my car out of sight." Lou whispered, tossing his car keys at an officer.
"Ash, you wanna take the detective over to the scene?" Asked Bobby.
"Yeah, uh, sure, of course." Ashleigh says, smiling politely. "Detective, it's good to have you back."
"It's good to be back. Glad to see that you're still doing what you love. So what have we got?"
"Victim is on the way to the hospital. Looks like he got shot in the back, put in a coffin, and buried up here." Ashleigh tells him.
"Coffin? I thought the victim said it was carjacking."
"That's what he told dispatch." Ashleigh says.
"So carjackers that dig holes and bring coffins. That's new. Victim say anything when you pulled him out?"
"He was calling out to somebody named Lizzie, saying he's sorry. Could've been his wife or girlfriend?" Asked Ashleigh.
"Your guys did that?"
He pointed at the coffin's lid.
"No, the victim did. Tried to punch and claw his way out." Ashleigh muttered, standing beside him.
"Buried alive. Well, that's the stuff of nightmares."
