A dry thunderstorm rolls over LA, bringing in a series of lightning strike emergencies for the 118 and leaves a first responder's life hanging in the balance. Athena and May go undercover at the rehab facility to help Bobby with his investigation into his sponsor's mysterious death. Ashleigh dreads her parents visit, while Chimney get a surprise of his own from a visiting Albert. And the night just gets started between the Gilberts and the Hans.

On a beach, couples took a walk, others played volleyball, some played with a frisbee, and others sat on the sand...

A guy walked onto the sand, dropping a couple of deckchairs and sticking an umbrella into the ground, opening the umbrella.

"You guys ready for a killer day?"

His two kids walked over.

"Yeah, let's do it."

"This is so stupid. I can't believe you dragged us out here." She mumbled, walking away.

A while later, the son stopped staring over at his father.

"Is he going to sleep all day?"

"He doesn't wanna be here either."

"That's not true

"That's not true. He's just tired from work."

"He doesn't care." She says.

"Why are you so mad at him all the time? You didn't used to be like that. We used to have fun; we used to bury him in the sand and stuff."

"I'm down for that." She said.

The daughter and son dug a hole in the sand, then grabbed their father's body, putting it into the hole.

They started throwing sand on his body, laughing softly.

After they buried him, they high-fived each other.

"Wait, what if we can't get him out?"

"It's just sand, dude." She says.

Their father yawned.

"Wha... what is going on? My children have buried me alive. Uh, hey. Hey, guys. Do you even know when the high tides are coming in?"

She threw a bucket of water on the sand.

"Oh, I see what you did there."

Suddenly a strike of lightning hit somewhere on the beach. Everyone screamed, running away.

"Dad! Dad! Are you okay?" She asked.

"Call 9-1..."

The 118 fire truck pulled up onto the beach...

Ashleigh pulled the ambulance up behind the fire truck. Ashleigh and Hen climbed out of the ambulance.

"Help! Help!"

"What happened?" Ashleigh asked, walking over to the two kids.

"We buried my dad, and then lightening came out of nowhere."

"It's our fault! I shouldn't have done it!"

"It's all right, we'll get him out of there." Ashleigh said.

"How? It got him in his neck."

"Was it the lightening?" Asked Chimney.

Ashleigh's foot stepped on the sand beside the man's body.

"No, the glass." Said Ashleigh.

"All right, let's get him out. Let's go, let's go!" Bobby shouted.

"Sir, can you tell me your name?" Ashleigh asked, kneeling down beside the man's head.

"Ibrahim." Ibrahim says.

"Are you in any pain, Ibrahim?" Ashleigh asked.

"Neck... hurts. Really dizzy." Ibrahim mumbled.

"Could be the blood loss." Ashleigh says, staring at Hen.

"Pulse is elevated. Breathing is shallow." Hen says.

"It's probably the weight of the sand." Ashleigh said.

"No rain. The hell did it come from?" Asked Buck.

"I don't know, but I really hope it doesn't strike twice, though." Ashleigh said.

"Why is this happening? I'm so sorry, Daddy!"

"It's okay, Omar. I'm okay." Ibrahim tells them.

"Buck." Ashleigh muttered, nodding to the kids.

"Oh, hey. uh, kids. Why... why don't we go over here, huh? Give them space to work." Buck muttered, placing his hands on both of their backs.

They sat down.

"There you go. Hey, Omar, right? Listen, I know sometimes things can happen that we can't explain. And that can be scary. But... but this we can actually explain. You see, when lightening hits the sand, it's so hot it turns it into glass, you see?" Buck asked.

Ashleigh and Hen began moving sand from around his neck, and Ashleigh stopped finding a piece of glass sticking out of his neck.

"Um, I'm pretty sure that hit the carotid." Ashleigh murmured. "All right, running fluids wide open. Cap, we're gonna have to skip the C-collar."

"All right, let's get a backboard over here." Bobby says.

"Ibrahim, just stay very still for me, okay?" Asked Ashleigh.

"Okay." Ibrahim mumbled. "Where are my kids?"

"Don't worry, they are over there, sir. Sir, don't move your head." Ashleigh tells Ibrahim. "Ibrahim, it's very important that you stay still."

Ashleigh grabbed a tube and unravelled it.

Ashleigh grabbed Ibrahim's arm when blood spurted out of a cut, and Ashleigh placed her hand over it.

"Whoa." Chimney said.

"Arterial bleed." Said Ashleigh.

"All right, tourniquet flying in." Bobby said.

"Is he okay?"

"Yeah, yeah, he's in good hands. She's got him. She's got him." Buck tells them.

Ashleigh placed the tourniquet above the cut, and Ashleigh tightened it around his arm. And Ibrahim moaned.

Eddie handed Ashleigh some cotton, and Ashleigh held it to Ibrahim's arm.

Ashleigh moved back, keeping pressure on his arm as Eddie and Chimney placed him on a backboard.

"Omar. Rasha. Listen, I'm fine. Everything's gonna be okay." Ibrahim muttered.

"We love you, Daddy." Rasha says.

"I love you, too." Ibrahim tells them.

"Come on, uh, you guys can ride in the engine with us." Ashleigh said.

At the Dispatch Center, Josh and a few dispatchers listened to the weather report...

Man: "They call it a dry thunderstorm. A high-elevation storm. The clouds, in fact, so high that the rain evaporates before it actually hits the ground. So your eyes and ears do not deceive you; you will see the lightening..."

Maddie signed, walking over to Josh.

"Are you seeing this?" Josh asked.

"Ugh, I'm trying not to. I have my own invisible storm. Ash's parents are coming to visit this week, and the last time they came... it didn't go so well." Maddie said.

"That's this week?" Asked Josh.

"Mm-hmm." Maddie mumbled.

Buck stood at the cooker, and fire was inside the pan...

"Hey. I think I finally mastered this." Buck says.

"What? Burning down our house? It doesn't matter; she's gonna hate it anyway." Ashleigh said, setting the table. "There's not enough colour, and that backsplash? My God. She's gonna hate that backsplash."

"Ash..." Buck whispered.

Ashleigh grabbed two wine glasses, placing them on the table.

"Okay, take a deep breath. Come on. We got this, right?" Asked Buck.

"We do. You know what? You're right. We have nothing to worry about. It's not like anybody's gonna drop any deep, dark family secrets this time." Ashleigh tells Buck.

"Not that we know of. It is family. There's always an explosion." Buck says.

"Okay, I need the toilet. Again." Ashleigh muttered, walking upstairs to the bathroom.

The front door opens.

"Ash, they're here." Buck said.

Maddie, Chimney, William, and Wendy stood there, and Buck walked over...

"William, so good to see you." Buck said, hugging William. "Please make yourself at home. Sis. Chimney. Wendy, you look so beautiful."

Buck hugged Wendy.

"Thank you for coming. Sorry, your daughter's just on the toilet." Buck tells Wendy.

"I have to say it has amazing bones." William said.

"Still some work to be done, but..." Wendy mumbled.

Ashleigh came downstairs, resting her hand on her belly.

"Oh, my... look, how big she's getting, sweetheart." Wendy said, staring at Ashleigh.

"Thank you." Ashleigh murmured. "So, how was the drive, Howie, Maddie? Thank you for picking them up..."

"Well, Ash, it was great. 405 was wide open; we talked about the weather." Maddie said, holding Jee in her arms.

Buck made some drinks.

"More interesting topic than usual these days." Ashleigh said.

Maddie handed Jee over to Wendy, and Wendy smiled while holding Jee.

"She's so precious. Aren't you?" Asked Wendy.

"Oh, you guys must be starving. Dinner's almost ready." Buck tells them.

"Ash, it's very, um, it's very black and white, aren't it?" Wendy asked, looking around the apartment. "Still, it's a very nice place, just could do with a little work."

"It's how we brought it, Mom. I may add some colour sometime soon." Ashleigh says.

"Oh, Ash, this backsplash, it's divine." Wendy said.

Ashleigh and Buck stared at each other.

"Uh, shall we?" Asked Chimney.

The doorbell rang.

"Oh, that must be, uh, Albert. I'll go grab it." Ashleigh said, opening the front door.

"Ash!" Albert shouted, hugging her. "Wow, you look very..."

"Welcome home, Albert. And pregnant?" Asked Ashleigh.

"Yeah. Looks good on you." Albert says.

"Thanks. How's Korea? The old man still a pain in the ass?" Asked Ashleigh.

"Uh, yeah, about that... brought two extra guests." Albert mumbled, placing a hand on Ashleigh's back. "I hope you don't mind."

Ashleigh stood there, staring at Chimney's father.

"Um, I'll... I'll go get Chim." Ashleigh mumbled, turning around and walking away.

Ashleigh and Chimney spoke quietly, and Chimney walked over to the door.

"How are you, son?"
