I ran so fast that my legs began to ache. I was just a few steps away from exiting the hospital when I slipped and fell into someone. He caught me, holding me tightly.
I looked up, and my heart sank—it was the same guy I had insulted earlier. Thank God I was wearing a mask.
The guards chasing me all stopped in their tracks.
"Sir, please, you need to hand her over to us," one of the guards said.
"More than twenty men chasing an unarmed woman? Really?" he replied, his voice calm yet firm.
"Sir, she committed a serious crime ," another guard added.
His gaze locked onto mine as he continued to hold me tightly. I shook my head, tears streaming down my face.
Just then, Daniella, Nurse D, and Doctor Tim rushed into the scene. Fearfully, I moved closer into his embrace, seeking shelter.
"Sir, you need to hand her over to us. She is dangerous. She was messing with Anna... she almost killed Anna," Doctor Tim declared, with Daniella nodding in agreement.
He looked at me again, his expression unreadable. My tears fell harder, and I shook my head vigorously in denial.
"She's the reason Anna hasn't woken up! I don't know who she's working for. She even stole my ID card!" Nurse D added, her voice dripping with accusation.
My heart raced in panic. Of course, he would believe them. It's always so easy for the rich to frame and destroy the poor.
He remained silent, studying me intently. Finally, he gently removed Nurse D's ID card from around my neck and threw it to her.
"With Anna or anyone else—did you do something wrong?" he asked, his voice low yet commanding.
My tears fell uncontrollably as I shook my head.
After a long pause, he released my hand.
"Go," he said quietly.
The room froze in shock.
No one chased me. The guards stayed rooted in place, simply watching as I ran out of the hospital.
God, I never knew he was so kind. I take back all the insults I hurled at him. Thank you so much.
Once outside, I removed my mask and every other disguise in the taxi, heading straight to Tony's house to return his card. Diana had given me his address—it seemed his home was well-known.
I smiled nervously. What would he think of me now? How could I have run off with someone else's card?
When I arrived at Tony's house, I paid the taxi fare and walked up to the gate. To my surprise, the gateman let me in, almost as though he had been expecting me.
His house was enormous and stunning. The swimming pool was vast and sparkling, stretching across the landscape like a blue mirror.
Tony sat by the pool, a white towel wrapped around his waist. He looked downcast.
I smiled to myself. Why hasn't he seen me yet? Oh, now he has. Instantly, I began fixing my hair and wiping off the black foundation Diana had used to alter my face.
He waved at me with a smile.
"Hey!" he called out.
I bowed gently from a distance, and he chuckled.
he seemed so sad.
I rushed over to him, and his expression brightened. He looked genuinely surprised and happy to see me.
