things had mostly gone back to normal, wooyoung finally sleeping alone in his room again (of course, he was capable of doing so before then, but three weeks away from his best friends meant that they were all pretty clingy with each other), san staying back at his apartment, and classes going smoothly. and just like before, there were nights when wooyoung stayed over at san's and san stayed at wooyoung's.
tonight was one of those nights, wooyoung wrapped up in san's arms as the two laid in the older's bed, the younger of the two just needing a little bit of extra comfort after the stress from classes. it was nearing dinner time, san noticing and glancing down at wooyoung before deciding if he wanted to mention it now or wait.
"hey, woo?"
"hm?"
"it's almost time for dinner... should we order or would you like me to cook or something?"
"mm... order please? don't want to get up yet..."
"okay, love. what would you like to eat?"
"mm... maybe chicken? i don't know, i can't decide."
"we can do that, woo. sounds yummy."
"thank you, sannie..."
"anything for you, my darling," san whispered, kissing the boy's nose.
wooyoung smiled small, cuddling closer to san as he pulled out his phone and ordered their food.
"i love you so much, woo~"
"i love you more, sannie..."
things grew quiet for a bit before wooyoung started playing with the hem of the older's shirt.
"something on your mind, love?"
"kind of..."
"wanna talk about it?"
"mm... yeah, a little."
san nodded, kissing the boy's temple.
"it's just... what am i going to do without hwa and joongie? they're graduating soon..."
"oh, baby... they're still going to be nearby after they graduate."
"w-what if hwa moves out though? a-and gets a place with joongie or something?"
"woo... he's not going to move. he loves living with you and sangie. so, so much."
"y-you think?"
"i know... and joongie probably won't go far either, y'know. if hwa's here, i'll bet he's staying too."
wooyoung nodded a bit, sighing slightly.
"i just... i worry. i'm scared of being far from them when they've gotten me through so much."
san nodded, gently massaging the boy's hips.
"i understand, baby... that's a really tough transition to think about."
"when we graduate next year... what do you think will happen?" wooyoung asked.
"well... i think that for the most part, things will stay the same. jongho and i will probably find an off campus apartment in the area since we're technically on campus now, but i think we both want to stay here. i think yunho and mingi will stay in their apartment, they've lived there for a few years now, right? and i don't think you, sangie and hwa will be going far from here either."
"i think... after graduation? i-i want to spend a few months at home. and then i'll come back here, i just really think i need that."
"and you deserve it, my love. that sounds perfect."
"i know i'm thinking really far into the future with this... but sometimes thinking about the future helps me, a little bit?"
"mmm... i get that," san muttered, kissing the side of wooyoung's head.
"it reminds me that there's always something to look forward to... especially when sometimes it's hard for me to look forward to things."
san nodded in response, hugging wooyoung tight.
"i'm really proud of how far you've come, my love."
"i'm proud of me too," wooyoung mumbled.
the night went on smoothly, the boys getting up for dinner and then deciding to watch a movie. wooyoung admitted he was feeling a little anxious not having bada with him, but unfortunately, the puppy wasn't allowed in the building and he understood that. with the boy's confession, san texted yeosang, asking him to send wooyoung pictures of the dog when he had the chance. and within minutes, wooyoung was cooing at pictures of his baby and showing each and every one to san.
"i wish we could sneak him in... look how cuddly he looks," wooyoung whined.
"baby," san chuckled. "if you want to have bada with us, we can always go to yours."
"no... no, i want to stay here, sannie. i've really missed your room."
"okay, angel... if you change your mind though, it's fine by me. as long as we're where you'll be the most comfortable."
wooyoung smiled and cuddled a little further into san's embrace, enjoying the peace he felt in every moment they were together. san was his safe place, there was no arguing that.
"you know... i didn't think i'd ever feel safe again..." wooyoung whispered, glancing up at san.
"do you feel safe now?" san asked, a little curious to find out the answer.
"choi san... you make me feel safer than i ever have in my life."
san leaned down gently, pressing a soft kiss to wooyoung's lips, then he nuzzled into the boy's neck.
"i'm glad i do... i'd do anything to make sure you feel safe."
"i love you, sannie..."
"i love you more, my wooyoung..."
the two stayed curled up on the couch for hours, only getting up when they wanted to head to bed. and through the entire night, san held wooyoung in a warm embrace, one that filled the younger with a feeling of safety and love.
he was the luckiest boy on earth.
