before they even knew it, their break was over and it was time for them to head back for their senior year. wooyoung was anxious, especially considering the two eldest from the group were no longer in school with them.

seonghwa had recently started working as a dance teacher for kids, and hongjoong had gotten a job working with an entertainment company as a producer and writer. their hours were solid, and it was a routine that was going to take some getting used to for everyone, but especially wooyoung.

the first week of classes was harder than wooyoung expected, and it ended in the boy curled up in bed next to seonghwa every night, trying to keep his tears at bay.

"oh, my baby... i know change is hard, but you're doing your best," seonghwa cooed.

"it feels so weird... everything feels off without you there, hyung..."

the first day of their second week, seonghwa was subbing for another instructor after teaching his own classes, meaning he wasn't home when wooyoung and yeosang got back from class.

"where's hwa?" wooyoung asked quietly, realizing the house was just a little too quiet.

"he texted our group chat a little earlier, youngie. said he's subbing for another instructor and he'll be back late today."

"oh..."

wooyoung kicked off his shoes and headed to his room without another word, feeling overwhelmed by this new routine he was trying to get used to. he didn't like not having his hyungs right there whenever he needed them, even if they still did their best to be. he didn't like going to lunch with their friends and seonghwa not being there to essentially mother the group, or walking from class to class without the eldest by his side. it felt wrong, no matter how much he tried to make it feel right.

yeosang sighed softly and texted san after the boy left the room, worried for his best friend.

yeosang
he's not handling hwa
having to work late very
well :( i'm kind of worried

san
want me to come over?

yeosang
maybe ,, i'm going to try
and talk to him first though

san
ok, just lmk then

yeosang walked to wooyoung's room, knocking gently on the door before peeking inside.

"youngie?"

"w-what?" wooyoung sniffled.

"wanna cuddle? or are you not feeling up to that right now?"

"mm... i-i don't know. i-it's just too much right now."

"that's okay, baby... want me to text san?"

"please?"

"okay... he'll be here soon, youngie."

yeosang was quick to text san asking if he could come over, saying wooyoung wanted him and he didn't want to try and push back at all to figure out what the boy needed. once he texted, he sat down at wooyoung's desk, holding his knees to his chest.

"is it okay if i stay in here with you for now?"

wooyoung chewed his lip and nodded, although he assumed that yeosang was just scared he'd hurt himself somehow.

"i'm not going to do anything if you leave, sangie... i haven't felt like that in a while."

"i know... i just don't want you to feel lonely. i know that adjusting to hyung's new schedule has been a lot and you miss him, and i know i feel a little lonely myself without him here as much. so i figured you probably feel the same way... and i wanted to help until san's here."
