it was after dinner time when san and wooyoung got back to seoul. the boys had left almost as soon as they woke up from their nap, only staying long enough for a quick lunch prepared by san's mother before they started their journey home.

jongho had given san an update on their drive home, telling him that the hospital wanted to keep yeosang overnight just to be safe, and wooyoung slept for most of the drive, which ended up working in their favor as they didn't have much time before visiting hours were over when they arrived.

they parked in the visitor's lot and got out with bada to make sure the dog had a chance to do his business before they got him comfy in the car while they were inside.

"ready to see sangie?" san asked softly.

"i think?"

san nodded at this, carefully guiding the boy  into the building. almost immediately, wooyoung tensed, his feelings toward hospitals taking over for a moment.

"you're okay, woo... everything's okay. sangie's coming home tomorrow, yeah? the doctors just want to make sure he's going to be okay when they let him go."

"o-okay..."

they got to yeosang's door soon after, san walking in first. seonghwa was gently brushing through yeosang's hair, muttering something to the boy, while jongho held the boy's hand and flipped through the channels on the tv.

"hi sangie~" san greeted.

"san! hi, how was namhae?" yeosang asked, a smile on his face.

"it was great... it was really nice to be home," san nodded, slowly encouraging wooyoung to come out from behind him.

"youngie..." yeosang cooed softly. "oh youngie, i missed you."

"s-sangie..."

"go see him, baby... give him a hug," san whispered.

wooyoung nodded, nervously making his way toward yeosang.

"hey woo," seonghwa said softly, beckoning him closer.

"hwa..." wooyoung whimpered, feeling sorry for the trouble he had caused.

yeosang was quick to notice, taking the boy's hand as soon as it was in reach and pulling him into a hug.

"i know exactly what you're thinking, youngie... and it's not true. none of this is your fault."

"b-but—"

"shh... i'm okay. yeah, i'm a little sore, but i'm okay. i'd rather it be me than you, woo."

"y-you're in the hospital... a-and it's my fault..."

"youngie... baby, it's not your fault at all. you had no control over where minhyung was, no control over his mindset or anything. he's a fucking creep, woo. and we made sure he got what he deserved."

"b-but sangie..."

"i knew he was going to fight, woo. the second i realized he was still there i knew he would try to fight. and i know that jjong feels a bit guilty too, but it's neither of your faults. i made the choice to get involved in that fight. i made the choice to have jongho call the police and not help me sooner... and i did it all to make sure we would get him locked up. i wanted you to feel safe again, youngie."

"i-i just... i-i don't want you h-hurt..."

"it's not that bad, baby... all of the x-rays came out negative and the only reason i'm staying overnight is because they're worried about my head. i got one pretty hard hit that knocked me out, they're just monitoring for any abnormalities."
