Author's POV:
Meera called out for the umpteenth time that night, "Raghbir..." Her voice was laced with a mix of sleepiness and mischief. Raghbir, who had been holding her securely by the waist, dragged her closer, urging her to continue. His eyes closed, his breathing relaxed, as he savored the warmth of her body.
It must have been around one in the morning when they arrived home from the Christmas party, showered, and hit the bed. But Meera, who had been complaining of tiredness in the parking lot, reluctant to walk, couldn't find sleep now. She sprawled upon him, playing with his hair, asking him the weirdest questions possible.
"What do you think we should name Ishika's baby?" Raghbir sighed, hearing her. "It's their baby, sweetheart. Why are you thinking about it?" As much as he loved the woman in his arms, he needed sleep. He was tired, and he knew she was tired too.
But Meera persisted, "We should think of names too." Raghbir opened his eyes, looking at her with a mix of amusement and exhaustion. "There's plenty of time, Meera. Now is not the time."
After a pause, she asked again, "Do you want kids?" Raghbir hummed, his hand patting her back, hoping silently that she'd fall asleep. "Do you want a girl or a boy?" She traced his jaw with her thumb, her head resting on his chest now.
"A daughter... or better, twins," he replied, his voice low and husky. Meera gasped, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Oh God, Raghbir, how do you think we'll manage twins?" He swiftly changed positions, hovering over her, and pressed his lips to hers. "You shouldn't be thinking about it now. As much as I love to hear you, we should sleep. Tomorrow is the shooting for the finale. Remember?"
Meera was taken aback by the fleeting kiss, her eyes widening in surprise. A crescent smile formed on her lips as she bit the inside of her cheek to prevent smiling. "Can you kiss me again? Like a proper, proper kiss!" Raghbir chuckled, pressing his lips to hers for a proper kiss, as she demanded.
The next day, work was smooth. They finished shooting the last episode of the show, and after a short break, the cast and crew gathered around the director, Ranjan. He called for Meera and Raghbir to cut the cake, and although they had denied it earlier, they eventually came forward. Raghbir held her firmly by the waist as they cut the cake, feeding Ranjan the first bite, then feeding each other. The crowd hooted for them, and laughter and teasing filled the air.
After the mandatory group photo, they bid farewell. Raghbir decided to drop Ishika and Meera off, and after assuring Ishika was home, they hit the road again. A soft song played in the car, and throughout the ride, they remained silent. As he pulled the car into the parking lot of Runwal Elegant, he couldn't help but notice Meera's sullen face.
"Can you please stay the night with me?" Meera asked him, breaking the silence. Raghbir nodded, and in no time, they were in her apartment. "What happened, Meera?" he asked, concern etched on his face.
"I'm going to Chandigarh tomorrow," she said, not meeting his eyes even for a second. Raghbir's forehead creased in concern. "Suddenly?" he let out.
Meera cleared her throat before looking at him and speaking again, "It's actually... my brother is getting engaged. I... I didn't know how to tell you. You know, my family doesn't know about us yet. And considering your shoot for the new music video starts day after tomorrow, I didn't want to..."
Raghbir's expression softened, and he chuckled, embracing her. "Meera, relax! Why are you so worked up?" He patted her head lovingly. "Go and change. I'll change in the room," he urged her.
Meera was still unsure, but when she looked into his eyes, they reflected only admiration for her, and his lips pulled into an assuring smile. She felt grateful. "I'll be back in no time," she said before entering the closet to change into her comfortable wears.
.
.
Meera came out of the closet, wearing a comfortable pair of pajamas, and was greeted by the sight of Raghbir lounging on the bed, his shirt off and only his briefs on. Her eyes widened slightly, and a smile spread across her face as she took in the scene before her.The ice cream tubs on the bedside table caught her attention, and she felt a surge of happiness.
"Ah, you're a lifesaver!" Meera exclaimed, plopping down beside him on the bed.
Raghbir chuckled, handing her a spoon and the tub of her favorite flavor, chocolate. "I knew you needed a pick-me-up after that long day."
Meera dug in, savoring the creamy texture and rich flavor. "Mmm... this is heavenly!" She closed her eyes, letting out a contented sigh.
Raghbir laughed, taking a bite of his own ice cream, cookies and cream.
As they finished their ice cream, Meera snuggled closer to Raghbir, feeling grateful for this quiet, intimate moment together.
"Thanks for tonight, Raghbir," she said, her voice soft. "I will tell mummy and daddy about us soon."
Raghbir hushed her by putting his fingers on her lips. His hand sneaked inside her t-shirt, holding her waist and pulling her close. "Meera, take your time. We don't need to rush anything. We can take our own sweet time exploring eachother before making it public, alright."
Meera smiled hearing him."Sometimes you really act so sensible. I'm proud of you", the dramatic tone of Meera didn't go unnoticed by Raghbir as he pinched her waist. "So you mean to say, I'm dumb?"
Meera giggled, shaking her head deliberately in a No."When did i even say that?", Raghbir hovered her, his eyes filled with amusement.
"You are really going tomorrow?", Meera nodded, pressing her lips thin as she noticed the hint of sadness in his eyes.
He pressed a sloppy kiss on her lips making her sigh in content.
"Let's sleep!", he said, covering both of them with the comforter.
Her hands roamed on his back as she spoke after a moment of silent.
"Raghbir?"
"Yeah?"
"Can I ask you something?"
"Of course, what's on your mind?"
Meera hesitated for a moment before asking, "Do you really want twins?"
Raghbir chuckled, looking at her with warmth in his eyes. "I do. I think it would be amazing to have two little munchkins running around."
Meera's heart skipped a beat at his response, and she felt a flutter in her chest. She knew in that moment that she wanted to spend the rest of her life making memories like these with Raghbir.
