Chapter 3
Nat's POV
I didn't mean to go that far or to hurt Claire. I really had only wanted to test her skills out but I knew I went too far. She was in pain, I could see that. She walked out of the gym with Wanda looking very unsteady on her feet. Steve approached me again with an eye brow raised.

"What the hell was that Nat? We never go that far with each other. You could have really hurt her" he said.
"I know I know. I don't know why I did it. It was annoying me that she could keep up. I know that's not an excuse. But she used her powers when I said she couldn't" i explained.
"Nat if she wanted to I think she could have thrown you across the room but she didn't did she. She just pushed you off her so you didn't hit her again. I think she had the right to do that. I think you should apologise". Steve added.
"But I don't trust her"
"Nat, you're my friend but what I think you did just then was wrong. She's part of our team now. We need to make her feel at home here and what you did is the complete opposite. I'm not suggesting you apologise, I'm telling you to" he stated.

I started leaving the gym and turned back to Steve and gave him an apologetic smile.
"I'll apologise I promise. But that doesn't mean I trust her yet".
"You don't know her yet Nat, give it time. Get to know her" Steve shouted after me as I left the room.
I walked quickly to my room not wanting to run into anyone. When I was behind my door I heard my phone vibrate.

Lena- what the hell was that Natasha? You could have really hurt Claire. She didn't do anything to deserve that from you. - 0814

Nat- I know trust me I know. I let the moment and my annoyance get the better of me. -0814

Lena- I hope Steve gave you a mouth full. -0816

Nat- I will apologise to her when she's on her own ok. I'm not going down to medical. -0818

Lena- make sure you do.
You know you gave her a concussion. -0818

Lena- I like having friends. I like being here. Please don't make this a big deal. Please don't make this place not a nice place to be.
I know trust is a big issue for you, I get that I really do Nat. But this can't be the way you treat new people. -0822

Nat- I can't help the way I am little sister. You know I've been trying to let more people in. It's hard but I'm trying.
I promise I'll be better.
You and everyone here are family. I wouldn't give that up. -0824

Nat- I didn't mean to hurt her.
It will take time but I'll try to find out information about her so I can trust her one day. -0825

Lena- don't find out information. Ask her yourself. She's nice. I know I've only known her for a very small amount of time but I trust her.
Fury wouldn't bring her here if he didn't trust her.
You trust fury right? -0827

Nat- you know I trust Fury. -0827

Lena- then drop the tough act Nat. Just be your normal self around here. No one is asking you to be her best friend. Just be nice please. -0830

Nat- ok, I will.
I'm going to go have a shower. Go do whatever it is you do all day. -0832

Lena- 🙄. -0838

I paced my room.

How do I apologise to her? I need to wait until she's alone in her room so no one else can give me shit for saying sorry. I feel bad but I still don't know what her true intentions are.

I showered and got ready for the day.
I ran into Wanda in the kitchen downstairs.
"I don't want to hear it Wands, I've been told off a few times. I will talk to Claire. I don't need to hear it from you too please" I said.
"Alright I'll leave it there as long as you do apologise. But whoever that was in there, it wasn't you Nat" Wanda said. "That wasn't the real Nat I know".
"Is she in her room?" I questioned
"yes Claire is in her room" Wanda answered. "Maybe you should let her rest though".
"I'll be quick and then I'll leave her be I promise".

I started making my way up stairs thinking of what to say. I knocked on the door quickly and quietly. There was no answer. Maybe Claire was asleep. Good that would mean I wouldn't have to talk to her until later then. Just as I went to turn around and walk away the door opened. Claire stood in the door frame looking tried, she squinted her eyes as if the light was hurting them. We both stood here just looking at each other until Claire spoke.
"Hi Natasha".
"Oh um hi Claire. Sorry if I woke you".
"I wasn't asleep, just a bit dizzy so took me a minute to get to the door sorry. What is it that I can help you with?". Claire questioned.
I hadn't noticed early that Claire was undeniably pretty. She had dark chocolate coloured long hair. Ocean blue eyes and beautiful skin.

how did her skin look so soft?

My thoughts were interrupted when Claire spoke again.
"Natasha, How can I help you? Do you want to come in? If I'm being honest the light out here is really hurting my head and I need to sit down"
"Sorry yeah of course" I quickly answered.

We walked into Claire's room and she shut her door behind me. Claire's room smelt nice. It smelt like flowers and vanilla. She had a few books on her shelves but nothing much else personal was in her room. Claire sat on the bed looking at me. silence between us grew as Claire waited for what I wanted to say to her.

"Look Claire I'm really sorry. I took that too far earlier. I did not mean to hurt you" I apologised.
"Thank you for apologising. Apology accepted".
"Really? Just like that? I really hurt you though" I asked back.
"I forgive you. I can't ask you all to give me a chance if I don't give everyone else a chance as well. I do have one question though" said Claire.
"What's that?"
"Why did you come at me with a second punch even though I was down?". Claire asked with a sad look on her face.
I don't even know this girl yet but seeing her being sad hurts me. Why am I even thinking like this? Stop it Nat!

I thought about my answer for a second.
"This is no excuse but I think I was annoyed at you for being harder that I had expected to beat"
"You're right not an excuse at all but at least you were honest. I applaud honesty Natasha" Claire said.
"I'm going to let you rest ok. Again I'm sorry I hurt you. Let's try this again tomorrow. And look after yourself ok".
"Thank you Nat. We didn't start off on the best foot that's for sure. Have a good day Natasha". Claire said as she escorted me out of her room and closed the door before me before I could say anything else.

Why do I like the way she says my name so much?

I did feel slightly bad. Claire actually didn't seem that bad but again it's trust that was my issue.

I didn't realise until I started to walk away that I was intrigued by this girl, curious even. I was instantly annoyed at my self for thinking like that.

I was determined more now to find out information about Claire, my own way.
