Chapter 9

Chapter 9
Claire's POV

"Haha I won again Kate bishop!" laughed Yelena.
Kate rolled her eyes. You three along with Peter had been playing Mario kart all morning. I was just about to start another race when Wanda walked in asking if she could talk to me for a moment and I headed outside the room to see what she wanted.

"Hey wanda. What's up?" I asked.
" I just had something I wanted to tell you because I didn't want you to think I was lying to you at all" she said nervously.
"What is it?".
"I just wanted you to know this because I realised last night that I hadn't told you. And I didn't tell you to keep it a secret, everyone here knows, I just forgot that you didn't know I promise. Apart of my powers is that I can read minds. I promise you I've never read your mind. I don't do that to my friends. But I just wanted to let you know that sometimes I can't help it. If your thoughts are loud. If you are really emotional I can hear it" she confessed.
"Thanks for letting me know Wanda!" I said.
"I could tell how much Nat hurt you that night" she frowned.
"It's all good we've moved past it now" I smiled.
"Come play with us" I added. And dragged her back into the lounge room.

Everyone was summoned to the meeting room where I first meet everyone 6 weeks ago now. You all sat around the table, this time I had a seat. Nat and Steve stood at the end of the table and explained the mission that we were all going to be going on in the next hour. Everyone sighed and didn't seem happy about the quick change to their plans today. We were all going to storm a hydra base that had been found to have a new weapon you had all been watching for recently. Mission task was to get in and get out with the weapon. Minimise casualties and leave as quick as you could. My first real mission with action I thought. I had secretly been missing the feeling I got after each time I took down a hydra base before joining the Avengers.

I was carrying my bag towards the hangers with two little packages in my hands. One of the first days I spent hanging out with Kate and Yelena, Yelena had shown me her widow bites. Cuff like bulky items that sat on each wrist and threw out electrical "bites". She had said Nat had them as well.

When I had started messing around Tony's lab I wanted something to work on, maybe to upgrade I had thought. The widow bites were the first thing that came to mind at the time. I found the schematics and designs for them and got to work. I had waited until they were alone and walked up to Yelena and Nat who were standing near each other. I handed each one a box. They both had the same puzzled look on their face.

"What is this Claire?" Asked Natasha.
"Trying to win my heart with presents won't work rosewood " smirked Yelena as Nat's elbow hit her in the side.
"Cyka!" Yelena added.
Yelena was the first to open her box. Nat watched peering over to see what was inside. Yelena pulled out two slim gold bangles.
"See I said it was going to be jewellery didn't I Claire. What did I do to deserve this" Yelena laughed.
"They are your widow bites, just slimmer and now they don't even look like weapons. They work and charge the exact same way. At least now you can wear them anytime. I explained.

They both just stood there and looked at me.
"If you don't like them you don't have to use them" I added now feeling pretty shy.
"I love it Claire, thank you! I can't wait to use them" Yelena said as she put them on and got onto the jet. Nat stood there looking at me with an unreadable expression on her face.

Maybe I overstepped?

She opened the box to find an identical set of the widow bites but in silver.
I was almost scared to learn what she thought.
"Claire this is so thoughtful. Thank you. I really appreciate it. I don't get given gifts often so I wasn't expecting this" Nat said.
I smiled at her.
" you're welcome! It wasn't any trouble at all. I enjoyed working on it actually". I said.
"When did you even do this" asked Nat.
"Those two days where I didn't come out of my room" I laughed.
