Chapter 75

Chapter 75
Claire's POV

I stole another piece of fruit from Yelena's bowl across the bench from me. After working out this morning, Kate, Yelena and myself were eating breakfast in the kitchen. Kate sat on a stool next to me and Yelena was sitting on the bench across from us. Kate reached over to steal more fruit while Yelena wasn't looking. A strawberry hurtled toward Kate and hit her in the middle of the forehead.

"What was that for" she said as she picked up the strawberry and ate it.

"Don't steal my food" Yelena replied.

"You didn't throw any food at Claire" Kate scoffed.

I knew she would do it so it was easy to dodge the apple splice heading my way.

"Thought you could throw better than that Belova" I laughed.

Yelena mumbled something and went back to eating her breakfast.

I could hear the lift doors opened around the corner. Nat's voice could be heard as soon as she stepped off the lift. She sounded angry, I wasn't sure why because she seemed fine earlier this morning when I had last seen her. Nat rounded the corner into the kitchen. She was muttering to herself, swearing in both English and Russian, slipping in and out of her Russian accent.

"Who pissed you off?" Yelena said with a mouthful of food.

Nat looked up and noticed us sitting there. She smiled as our eyes met.

"Having a bad day?" I asked.

"No, I just like to swear sometimes" she joked.

"Well go ahead and swear as much as you like" I smiled.

"Oh I plan on it" Nat laughed .

Nat left a soft kiss on the top of my head and ran her hand over my shoulders as she walked past. She leant her side into the bench and sipped her coffee. Nat reached over and picked up half of the avocado toast I had yet to finish.

"Thanks sweetheart" she grinned.

I looked up and rolled my eyes at her, giving her a smile. Nat squeezed my shoulder and gave me one quick kiss before heading off for the day.

"Yuck, do you have to do that in front of me?" Yelena said.

"It was a small kiss, you'll live" I laughed.

"That's my sister" she groaned.

"What are you 5? That was tame Yelena, be grateful that's all it was" I joked.

Yelena faked being sick and slid off the bench. We still had the rest of the day to entertain ourselves before the party tonight.

Nat's POV
I left Claire in the kitchen and headed to meet Tony. I volunteered to help out with some party planning for tonight's party, my way of saying thank you for The Christmas present Tony had given me.

It was New Year's Eve. Tony, as per usual, was hosting his annual count down to New Year's party. This party was more on the smaller side compared to his others.

Later that evening I was curling my hair in front of the large mirror in the closet, while Claire was in the bathroom. I had helped Claire pin her hair back into a low bun but she then retreated to the bathroom to get dressed because she hadn't let me see her dress when she bought it.
