Claire's POV

Today was the day of my first mission. I was excited and nervous all at once. I finally felt like an "Avenger" but I didn't want to let anyone down or be a disappointment. Steve said it was a simple surveillance mission. I had hoped my first mission would have a bit more action but I was happy just to finally going out in the field.

I was going with Steve and Yelena. I packed a bag for the two nights away. Got into my suit and headed down to the hanger to get onto the jet.  Steve was already there waiting with his shield. Yelena was slowly walking in just after me.
Nat walked up to us before we boarded the jet.
"Behave baby sister, and be careful" she said to Yelena.
"Keep me up to date Steve. Make sure Yelena stays out of trouble please" she added.
Nat then turned to me.
"Good luck Claire. Take care of your self ". She said.
"Thanks Natasha.. ah Nat". I smiled.

The first day and night we were away was pretty uneventful. We watched a hydra base. The aim was to assess what weapons they had since shield had suspicions they were making new weapons here. I was pretty entertained having Yelena here but I was sure Steve was sick of you two talking by now.

It was the second and last night we were to be away. Steve was sitting outside watching over the base, yelena was asleep but I couldn't sleep. I realised what time it was and that solved the question of why I couldn't sleep. It was 2:12am.

I wonder if Natasha is awake.

I had all the avengers numbers in my phone. Fury had given them to me when I joined. I had never messaged Nat before. I pulled up her name and my fingers paused above the screen.

Should I message her? Or just leave it? What would I even say? Something not serious. Oh why not.

Claire- 2am must be pretty boring without me there. -0212

I hesitated before pressing send and groaned as I put my phone down, I hadn't expected it so soon if at all but your phone lit up with a reply.

Nat- Claire? - 0214

Claire- the one and only. -0214

Nat- at least I have your number now. How's the mission? -0215
Oh and it's pretty lonely down here actually. 0216

Claire- I didn't know if you would be awake or not. Im really bored. Yelena is asleep and I'm pretty sure we have been driving Steve insane. -0218
If you wanted my number you could have just ask. -0218

Nat- you should just always assume I'm awake at this time. -0218
Don't need to ask when you give in and give it to me first. -0219

Claire- at least you'll have the pleasure of my company tomorrow at training. -0221

Nat- you'll be home that early? 0221

Claire- I'm pretty sure Steve is about to call it. There's been nothing going on. -0222

Nat- you know you don't have to train in the morning. Try to catch up on some sleep. -0225

Claire- are you saying you don't want to train with me romanoff? -0225

Nat- oh your confidence has shot up hey? Haha
I'm not saying that Rosewood. I just mean you're not expected to after a mission. -0226

Claire- see you in the morning Nat.
Go to bed. -0228

Nat- I bet you will be asleep instead of training tomorrow. -0229
Maybe if I had someone here to make a tea for me. Can't be expected to make my own. -0229
