Chapter 58
Claire's POV

It had been a week since I had seen Nat during the supply run with Clint, which meant only a week to go until she was back. Nothing much had really happened. I went back to my normal everyday routine of training in the morning, swimming after that and spending the rest of the day reading, listening to music, scrolling social media or hanging out with the other avengers. Every single thing I seemed to do didn't distract me from the fact that Nat wasn't there.

Nat was giving me regular updates on how annoying the recruits were and that she was introducing Steve to a lot of her favourite movies in their down time. We called each other as much as possible and messaged all the time.

I had only seen her seven days ago but it felt like so much more time had passed. The days felt like they were dragging but the days were dwindling and the promise of having Nat home was getting closer.

I was currently sitting in the lounge with yelena, Bucky and Steve. Yelena, as usual, was making fun of Steve's age while Bucky was pretending to ignore her antics but occasionally a smile would creep up on his face.

"Come on Cap lighten up, it's just a joke old man" Yelena said.

"You talk too much, you do know that right?" He replied.

"I've got too much to say, I can't help that" Yelena smirked.

"I like you better when Nat's here. You're not as annoying" Steve groaned.

"Oh no she's still annoying. She just annoys you less when Nat's here because Nat tells her off" Bucky interjected. "Not that you really listen to her anyway".

"Nat is not the boss of me. I'm not a kid" Yelena says rolling her eyes.

"You act like it sometimes" Bucky jokes.

"What is this gang up on Yelena day, I was just enjoying sitting here making fun of Steve and here you all are turning it around on me" she said. "Claire help me out".

"You're all annoying" I laughed.

"I meant defend me, I thought we were friends" Yelena said pretending to be hurt. "You're lucky I keep you around Rosewood".

"You wouldn't have it any other way and you know it" I smiled.

Steve said he couldn't handle any more time around 20 something year olds because we were all a "walking headache". Steve and Bucky left the lounge and I headed up to Nat's room.

I just wanted a little bit of time alone today. The nights felt lonely and I hated it but sometimes the constant company during the day was a little much. I was organising my books on the book shelf while humming along to the music I had playing. Nat had told me before she left that she wanted me to bring more stuff over while she was gone. Most of my things were now here.

I was listening out for my phone to start ringing. When Nat and I were messaging earlier she said she would call me at 2pm. That time had come and gone and I still hadn't heard anything from her. It was now 4pm, she was two hours late for the phone call she promised she would make. It made me feel uneasy. If she couldn't call for some reason she would have sent me a message letting me know, but so far I had nothing. I tried to distract myself with sorting out the books on the shelves but it wasn't working.

Since the hydra attack in my room every one knew I was staying in Nat's room but they all thought it was out of fear of returning to my own room. So no one would think it was weird that I was in here.

There was a loud enthusiastic knock on the door. On the other side of the door was Kate, she stood there with a wide bright smile.

"Hey girl! Did you want to come to my room with me and yelena? We were just going to have a chat and eat junk food" Kate asked.
