Chapter 21

Chapter 21
Nats POV

Claire had left my office a few hours ago following after Yelena. I had finally finished all the work I should have finished much earlier in the day. After having a bite to eat I realised I had nothing to do. It wasn't often that I had free time and when I did I often trained. But now I longed for free time so I could spend time with Claire, who was currently with Kate and Yelena. Dinner was still 3 hours away so I had to find something to occupy the time.
I sat down on the lounge and sent Claire a quick message.

Nat- hey. When you're free did you want to hang out?. -1610

How have I allowed Claire to take over my mind so much? And why am I enjoying it?

Clint walked in sitting down across from me and I pocketed my phone.
"What are you doing sitting around in here during the day, not like you at all"
"Just looking for something to do" I answered.
"Since when does Natasha Romanoff look for something to do" he questioned.
"I do have a life outside of work you know".
Clint laughed. "We all wish we had a life outside of work, no matter how much we tell ourselves it just isn't true".
"You're not wrong" I laughed back.
"You look like a lost puppy dog, it's depressing Nat". Clint added.

My phone buzzed drawing my attention away from Clint and to the screen. It was Claire.

Claire- Hey Nat. I'm free whenever. What are you thinking? -1618

Nat- how about a walk? Get away from here for a little bit? -1618

Claire- I can be ready in 10. -1619

Nat- I'll see you downstairs in 10 then gorgeous. -1619

I looked up at a questioning look on Clint's face. I didn't have to say anything. And Clint didn't have to say a word either. The smile on my face as I typed on my phone said it all.
"Looks like you might have someone to keep you busy, save you from all this mopping around" Clint said. "I'll leave you too it Nat, come find me later when you're free".
Clint turned around and walked out. I ran upstairs to quickly get change to meet Claire downstairs in just a few minutes.

Claire's POV
Nat walked by my side through the Forrest surrounding the compound. We were following a trail that Nat said she often walked or ran. Today we were enjoying a slower paced trek just talking as we walked. They came to a clearing that over looked a small creek flowing through rocks. Nat sat down at the edge of the water waving for me to follow. The day had been warm and sunny but as afternoon rolled into early evening it was beginning to cool down. It wasn't necessarily cold I would say but the wind was starting to pick up making me shift close to Nat as I sat down.

"It's so peaceful here, it's nice" I said reaching down and letting the refreshing water run through my fingers.
I felt Nat softly grasp the back of my sweatshirt. She was holding onto me as I were leaning closer to the water in case I fell. I couldn't believe how such a small gesture could make my heart beat increase so quickly.
"Scared I'll fall in?" I said with a small smile.
I could tell Nat was about to apologise for grabbing on to my clothes but I stopped her.
"I think it's very sweet" I added.
"I can't have you being cold, it's actually unseasonably cool at the moment" Nat smiled. "I mean I could just let you fall and I would have no choice but to warm you up".
I looked up from the water at Nat.
"And how would you do that? If I fell in hypothetically" I asked
"Maybe something like this" Nat said as her lips touched my neck so very lightly it made me shiver.
She continued softly kissing up my jaw.
"Maybe there's something else we could do to warm you back up, but like you said it was hypothetical so I'll just leave it there". Nat pulled away from me sitting back up straight.
"You are a tease" I pouted.
"But you just make teasing so much fun" Nat smirked.
