Chapter 10
Claire's POV

I had just finished working out with Steve and shooting with Nat. Which again I found Nat so distracting while she was showing me some more shooting skills. I was on my way to find Wanda to start our training session for today. Wanda was sitting in the simulation part of the gym.

The simulation room was inside glass walls, it was used to practice fighting, shooting and other things such as using powers on AI generated situations. Wanda had me trying to work on my fire throwing skills by hitting moving objects. The fire power I had really wasn't the strongest power. I had so much trouble wielding it. At the end of the session I wanted to ask Wanda a question.

"Hey Wanda one last thing before you go. I am really worried about hurting someone accidentally with this fire" I said.
"Because of what happened with Nat?" she asked.
"Yeah I mean what if I had shot fire at her instead? It was such an easy and normal thing for me to do, push the wind in the direction and at the speed and power I wanted. But when I was doing it I panicked and it ended up feeling like I didn't have control of it"  I said sadly.
"Claire as you already know your powers are connected to and controlled by your emotions. When we are angry or scared these powers are heightened and your control over them is affected. I think you just panicked because you thought Nat might get hurt and that's why you just lost a little bit of control. No one was hurt that's the main thing" Wanda said to you kindly.
"Come on let's go get breakfast" she added.

After breakfast I headed out to the tree by the lake to read again. It was peaceful and smelt like summer outside. After I finished reading I was admiring the view around me. I happened to look up towards the building on the other side of the lake and noticed a face looking down at me. It was Nat. I smiled and waved and got a small wave back before she quickly moved away from the window. I wondered how long she had been watching me.
I spent the rest of the day on my bedroom floor playing games with Kate and Yelena.

That night I tossed and turned and around 2:30am finally gave up trying to get back to sleep and headed downstairs. I secretly hoped a certain red head was down there as well.

"I was beginning to think you stood me up" Nat laughed as you made your way into the kitchen. She was standing by the kettle making you both a cup of tea. I sat down in my seat and waited. Nat came over with the mugs and handed me mine. I smiled at her and thanked her. She then sat down not on her usual seat 2 away from me but on the one next to me instead.

Why the sudden change in seats? She wanted to sit next to me?

I enjoyed being this close to Nat.
"Tell me something about your self" I said breaking the silence.
"Something about me? Why?" Questioned Nat.
"Yes about you silly. There's no one else here is there. So I can get to know you better of course" I said.
"No one ever asks about me I was just surprised. Why are you so interested in me Claire?" She smirked back at you.
That smirk drove me crazy. It was hot. I was now slightly flustered.
"I want to know the real Natasha" I confessed.
"You can just call me Nat remember. She smiled at you.
"I like the way Natasha sounds" I admitted.
Nat smiled back at me.
"Ok I'll give you one fact about me for a fact about you" Nat said.
"Deal".
"My real name is actually Natalia. But I just go by Natasha or Nat. I don't really ever use Natalia" Nat said hesitating slightly.

I hadn't actually expected her to tell me something so honest. She was starting to open up to me. To let me in, let me closer to her. She said her name in a beautiful Russian accent.
"Natalia" I said out loud. "It's pretty. Just like Natasha and Nat" I hadn't really meant to say that out loud but I couldn't take it back.
"You think so?" Nat asked.
"Yeah I do" I answered with a smile.
Nat stared at you until she spoke again.
"Come on now I need a fact about you" Nat demanded.
"ok let me think".
What would I even say? She gave me something real and honest and I wondered how many people actually knew that about her. I didn't have many things to share about myself really.
"If I'm having a really bad day or have been having flashbacks I like to go outside at night and look at the stars. They make everything seem smaller. I know that sounds lame" I shared.
"I don't think it sounds lame at all Claire" Nat said.
I hadn't even realised the time. It was 4am. We had been chatting for almost 2 hours. You both decided to try get a little more sleep while we could. I knew i wouldn't fall back asleep though.
"2am is sort of our thing now Claire". Nat laughed.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Yeah" she confirmed.
We parted ways in the hallway to our own rooms.

We have a thing?

Nat's POV

I knew that I had an effect on Claire. I could tell by the way she smiled, how she would get nervous, The way her cheeks went red and by the way she sometimes seemed at a loss for words. I was laying on my bed thinking about the interaction i just had with Claire and smiled. I liked the way Claire had said my name, all versions of it. It sounded nice when she spoke it out loud.

What am I doing? I can't be falling for her. It's not right.

I spent the rest of the night trying to sleep but overthinking ruled my mind. I was scared to admit i might actually have feelings for Claire.
