The knocking at the door became louder and louder. Whoever was behind it seemed desperate to get in Lucas' office, but it wouldn't be him knocking because he was gone.

He left like everyone leaves you! Nothing is what it seems! Her torturous inner voice jabbed at her again.

"Shut up!" she said, slamming her hands on the desk. She was so tired of being helpless, she was so tired of being afraid, she wanted out, out of the nightmare that was her life. She wanted a new life and Lucas was promising her just that, a new life and she would be a fool not to take it.

BETRAYED. Her own flesh and blood had betrayed her. After everything she had done for Connie, she betrayed her. What was she getting out of it? What did Justin promise her? Was she with Justin? Was that worth the betrayal of her own sister? What had Nessa done to have Connie turn on her? She had done everything for her when they were children. She had taken care of her and their mother and she had gone without, just so Connie could have a somewhat happy childhood. Ungrateful little bitch!

"Nessa, darling, I need you to come out now, you are scaring me." Lilian was distressed. "I like tulips, darling, I was thinking about planting some this summer, what do you think?"

Hearing their code phrase, Nessa was brought out of the anger-covered haze. She walked to the door and opened it.

Lilian hugged her and breathed out a sigh of relief. "You scared the crap out of me."

"Sorry, but I need to talk to Mac, would you mind if—"

"How about if you go to the living room and I'll give express orders to steer clear. I'll be around if you need me." Lilian kissed her forehead and walked away.

Nessa reached behind her and pulled her phone from her pocket, she waited for Lucas to answer, but it went to voicemail. She took a deep breath to calm herself down and not think any bad thoughts. She hated that the first thing she thought was that Lucas was off with another woman sleeping with her while she was at home waiting for him. She hated that.

Nessa paced back and forth in the living room mumbling to herself when Blake walked inside and cleared his throat to get her attention. "Nessa, there's a woman outside claiming to be Lucas' wife."

She stopped pacing and looked at Blake, she sighed loudly not in the mood to deal with the woman. "Ex-wife, What the hell does she want?"

"Maggie is detaining her. She says she wants to talk to you."

Nessa furrowed her brows. "Me? How the hell does she know about me?"

Blake shrugged his shoulders. "We can escort her out of the property if you want."

Nessa shook her head no. She wanted to meet the woman that was still claiming to be Lucas' wife. "Send her in but stay close."

Blake gave a nod of his head and left, seconds later, a woman's whinny voice came through the door.

"Where the hell is Lucas, and what are those goons doing here?"

Nessa looked at the blonde woman walking into the living room. She was about Nessa's height, her body was model thin, not many curves and she was caked in make-up and the acrylic nails on her fingers were much too long. The woman was down-right gaudy and vulgar. What the hell had Lucas been thinking?

"First of all, they're not goons they're personal guards and what the hell are you doing here?" Nessa glared at the woman who had instantly rubbed her the wrong way.

Laney gave Nessa the once over from head to toe and scrunched up her nose at her in distaste. "Where is Lucas getting his whores?"

"I assume the same place he found you," Nessa retorted, keeping her calm.
