Her mind was under lock down. She wouldn't allow herself to think about how she had murdered four people. She had taken the life of four men. Sure, Thomas deserved to die and so did the asshole who had groped her, but what bothered her was the fact that she didn't hesitate, and she wasn't the least bit remorseful. The drive took her over ten hours. She didn't stop for anything, not even a bathroom break.
Just outside the city limits the SUV ran out of gas. Nessa cursed to high heaven. She left the car on the side of the road after wiping her fingerprints away as best as she could. She walked about three miles before she came to a bus stop. It took her four buses and a four mile walk to get to Lucas' office. She was sure she looked like hell. She didn't care. She needed him, that was all she cared about.
Nessa walked through the front door and straight to the elevator. She pressed the top floor and watched the doors closing. When they opened again she hesitated for a second before she walked out and headed straight to Tom's desk.
"I need to see Lucas."
By the look on the young man's face she was sure that she looked like hell. She felt like it. All she wanted was to be with Lucas. She wanted to be back in his arms then she wanted to knee him in the balls for lying to her or omitting the truth.
"Mr. McAllister is out of the office until further notice."
"Well get on the damn phone and call him and tell him I need to see him," she said with a very annoyed tone.
Tom picked up his phone and dialed Lucas' cell phone number and waited, but it went to voice mail. After the third time, Nessa was about to rip her hair out.
"Give me your phone." She held out her hand in front of Tom, the man didn't move.
"Give me your phone or I will make sure Lucas throws your ass out in the street. Now give it."
Tom placed his phone in her hand. Nessa unlocked the screen and found Lucas' number in the contacts and wrote him a message.
From: Tom
Message: It's Nessa, I'm at your office come ASAP.
Nessa handed Tom his cell phone back and let out a sigh. Not even a minute had gone by when Tom's cell phone rang.
"It's Mr. McAllister." Tom handed the phone back to her.
"Lucas? I need you, where are you?" Nessa was frantic on the phone. She tried to hold it together, she just couldn't do it any longer.
"Looking for you," he bellowed into the phone. "Don't you fucking move from there, Nessa. I'm on my way. It'll take me a while to get there. Stay in my office and lock the door. Don't you fucking move." He was upset, he was more than upset. He was pissed off. He never used the word fuck unless he was beyond angry, and he was livid.
Before she could answer him, the line went dead. She handed the phone back to Tom and asked him to open Lucas' office.
Nessa sat on his couch and waited for him. It took him exactly five hours to get back from wherever he was.
The door to his office flew open and Lucas walked in. His eyes were wild, and he had a dangerous look on his face that softened the moment that he laid eyes on her.
"Why did you leave?" He rushed to her and wrapped her up in a tight embrace.
Nessa didn't object in the least. She wrapped her arms around him and kissed his face everywhere and then she took his lips and devoured them in a deep and searing kiss.
Lucas let out a small groan and pulled back from her lips. "I should spank you until you can't walk for weeks for the stunt you pulled." His words were laced with emotion.
