Chapter 5: Trouble at Hora City

We kept on going, we made small stops but overall it took us around three hours until we entered near Hora City. Vita was right, there was no sign of the Nox Battalions anywhere... But one could guess there were people sneaking. Then we were taken to the castle to meet with the king.

King Rangan, he has short black hair with a cheery face,

"Wilhelm Armbrust?"

August nods, "Please call me that in front of the public... But I am August... Emperor of Satrus."

Rangan laughs, "Haha I've always wanted to meet with Emperor Roman, but I did hear you were the next."

"It is a pleasure to meet you."

Rangan smiled, "The pleasure is all mine... Truth be told I wasn't even supposed to be royalty so drop the formalities..."

Vita sighs, "Rangan please... you're still a king..."

"What can I say? I like to be friends before partners."

Eloria walks in from a different door with her mouth filled with bread,

"This Rangan fellow is trustworthy..."

Rayth sighs, "Just because he gave you bread–"

Rangan points, "Rayth Lionheart was it? I've heard of you as well, the rookie who will take over Deus one night. I also heard you were interested in Axes? Zoudou Kingdom has some fine collections."

Rayth's eyes sparkle, "Whoa where?!"

I sighed, "Now really isn't the time..."

Vita asks, "Rangan why are you..."

He smiles as he walks down from his throne, "You all will help me... in destroying Elysian."

August lifts his head, "I've had this question for a while... but why?"

"They are a criminal organization—"

"No, I mean... Why now? You have the big three and while, I understand the reason why you didn't use them... You have many more options to eliminate them in secrecy."

For the first time we met him Rangan stopped smiling as he looks towards August,

"For a long time... Despite being a criminal organization... I was close friends with its boss Vadim. He was someone hard to work with.... but when we worked together we could do anything... Until recently I found out..."

"?"

"I found out that they now work under the Nox Government."

"What?!"

Alina shouts, "But Dyavol told me they don't, and well... in that situation we were dealing with Concordia and Harmonia... I don't think Dyavol was lying to me."

Rangan sighs, "It happened in the span of five years, they joined up... And well I have a burning hatred towards them."

I asked, "Hatred?"

"Many people don't know this... But during the Centena War they ignored my plea for a peaceful treaty and riled up the other nation's leader for a longer war. Then out of nowhere they accept my deal and the war ends. For one they must be planning something, and two... They used me and used war as a stepping stone... I don't care if they ignored my deals, but the fact that they ignored the thousands that died as the result of the Northern War... I won't forgive them."

Jasper looks around, "But... I sure don't see a lot of knights inside the castle... unlike in Satrus."

Vita nods, "They are all patrolling the gates of Hora City."
