Chapter 14 (Jasper): Internal Struggles

We walked through the path that was meant for travel. Meaning there were many stone sculptures, and the view from the side mountains down to the forest was amazing. August walks faster,

"Rayth! Jasper! We need to go quickly!"

We both nodded and rushed after him. We kept on walking and walking, I could hear some rumble in the distance. Are they already fighting? Oh god what if I have to fight as well? After what felt like hours August noticed something,

"Wait."

Rayth asked, "What?"

"Isn't it weird? This is supposed to be the pathway for travel, and it's a much safer option than the Forest of Dread."

In this case, the Forest of Dread is in between the borders of Tuca and Espia. It is generally a safe place to travel, but if you are traveling with goods, monsters who smell the goods do attack you. This is why a lot of trading is done through Drey Cave, although that incident did happen a few years ago.

I walked over, "Come on August, you're just paranoid. Remember that collapse?"

August silently stops, "No... Even if that was the case this is still a better route to persevere goods. And there wasn't any sign when we entered that stopped us..."

Someone was in front of us, no it was two people. Sylvester and Yvette!

Sylvester clapped, "It took you this long to figure shit out?"

August shouts, "What are you doing on this route?!"

Sylvester smirked, "Haha, the others are currently fighting your friends. I was hoping Jasper would come through this way. Seems like I hit the jackpot!"

I shivered, "Get this creep away from me August!"

I run back as Yvette stops me with his arrow, "None escapes my eyes."

August pulls out his Royal Spirit Blade, "Well, this isn't ideal but... bring it!"

Sylvester shakes his head,

"Nah, I don't want to fight you Emperor. You two can fight Yvette. What I want is to fight Jasper!"

"What do you want with me! You said I was not good, just leave me alone!"

Yvette somehow distracted both August and Rayth as I stood face to face with Sylvester,

"Jasper, do you know my Phantom?"

"I don't want to know..." I need to get out of here! Smack! "HUH?"

"Keke, it's no use, this whole area is blocked with invisible barriers, and as soon as you step in, there is no way out."

Shit! Why couldn't my Phantom see it? What should I do? I can't fight him! He's too powerful! Last time I was almost killed! I banged the barrier as Sylvester comes closer,

"Why are you running away?"

"I don't want to die!"

Sylvester then throws me a sword, "Pick it up."

It was rather short, and it was still in its sheaths. It had a fire emblem on one side and an ice emblem on the other. But the sword itself was dull and not sharp.

"Huh?"

"I said pick it up! use it! And fight me! Remember? I killed your friends, remember that hatred..."

No, not again! My emotions are going haywire! I can't think straight! I can... see... only see... Kill... I need to kill Sylvester to get my pain away...
