"Yes, Eomma, I'm eating enough." Sunoo assured, smiling bashfully as both Jake and Dae were listening, giggling at his shyness.

"Eomma, I'm eating right now." He whined when she still persisted, even holding his food up as proof though she couldn't see it.

They were all eating lunch, sitting beneath a tree on one of the many fields of the campus. This one wasn't used for practice, leaving the entire space open for people to fill, some eating lunch and some studying in large circles.

"I will, I will." Sunoo said through the phone, smiling at his Eomma's very thorough questions in checking up on him.

It wasn't often that she found the time to call, work keeping her busy most of the year. Sunoo didn't mind it too much, it had been like that since he was young. He could complain if he wanted to, demand more attention or time, but Sunoo didn't think that was fair. Ever since his Appa died when he was eight, his Eomma had had to work more and more to provide for them both.

When he was younger it was harder, he didn't understand the true gravity of the situation, why his Eomma had to work so much. But now, Sunoo was proud of her. Proud that she had taken care of him whilst improving more and more in her own profession.

"What about you, Eomma? Are you working today?"

"I'm good, Sunooie." She replied through the phone, some rustling behind her. "I have court at one."

If any of his other friends or family had said that he'd be beyond worried. But his Eomma was a lawyer, one of the best in his opinion.

"You'll kill it, Eomma." Sunoo assured with a proud smile, hearing a chuckle on the other side of the phone.

"Oh." She paused, some more rustling, and then she was saying, "I'm sorry, sweetie, I have to go. I'll call you later, okay?"

"Sure Eomma, talk soon."

"Be good. Study lots!" She added quickly.

"I will, Eomma." He answered, slowly attempting to put down the phone.

"Oh, and make sure to eat!"

"I will!" Sunoo laughed, his Eomma's tone making him smile as she finally gave in, letting him hang up the phone.

Sunoo was smiling as he looked up to his friends, both of them already amused, Jake complimenting, "You two are so adorable."

"Aren't they?" Dae conceded, throwing a grape into her mouth as she complained, "My parents call me once in the entire academic year."

"Ahh, I'm smothered with affection." Jake sighed, looking over to Dae as he finished, "I get two."

As she burst out laughing Sunoo felt a little bad, worried that he had made the pair feel insecure.

"It's because it's just the two of us." He said, taking a drink. He knew that his Eomma put more effort into checking in on him because it was only them. He had no siblings that needed to be taken care of, and his Eomma also worried about Sunoo's reluctance in making too many friends.

"Plus she can't make it to the match this week so she wanted to tell me."

"Ohhh, are you excited?" Dae suddenly asked, changing the focus to the match, the pair nodding their agreement.

It was only a home game, but it was the first match of the year and that always meant some nerves. Of course there wasn't as much pressure on them as the basketball team, but they were still responsible for a lot. Dae even more so as the captain. It was up to them to keep the games going, keep the audience interested. If they failed, then the entire spirit would drop, leaving everyone dissatisfied.
