Everything passed in slow motion, all the buildings that steadily got more pricey, and trees that became a blur as his eyes glazed over.
"You're not mad are you?"
The last thing Sunoo felt was mad. Especially at Dae. Every other emotion, however, was brimming at Sunoo's surface.
Dae had told him right away when Sunghoon had asked her to go to the event with him, but she had made it abundantly clear that Sunghoon only wanted her to go for his parent's sake.
A weird sensation had overcome Sunoo when he found that out, like he wanted to swoon at the possibility Sunghoon still wanted him. Then he was punishing himself for it, reminding himself that he was supposed to be getting over the older.
"Of course not, you're just helping your friend." Sunoo smiled as much as he could. Though he wasn't angry, and it was all fake, he knew it would hurt watching Dae and Sunghoon be a couple again.
Because he likes to suffer, Sunoo asked, "What did your parents say about you two?"
"They know we're not actually together. I told them we broke up but Sunghoon hasn't told his parents yet." With a heavy sigh, she furthered, "They're not ecstatic or anything but I made it clear this was my life and I do what I want with it."
"I'm proud of you." Sunoo smiled genuinely, somewhere in the back of his head he hoped that Sunghoon could have done the same.
"I'm proud of you too." Dae rebutted. "I know it must not be easy going tonight."
"I still think we should have stayed at home." Jake voiced from the backseat.
Although Sunoo agreed entirely, he remembered, "I have to be there for my Eomma. They're celebrating her promotion as well."
"If I have to stay for Sunghoon's speech too, I can't promise I won't throw something at him." Jake grumbled, earning the smallest chuckle from Dae.
Sunoo, however, scolded, "We're ignoring him."
Weirdly, the thought of hurting Sunghoon made him upset too. Despite all the pain he was receiving because of Sunghoon's actions, Sunoo was still so reliant on him.
"I know, I know." Jake rolled his eyes.
After telling the older about his week with Sunghoon, Jake had certainly been the angriest. It had taken an hour to convince Jake not to call Sunghoon and scream at him.
Sunoo was thankful to have someone that cared about him so much, but he annoyingly cared about Sunghoon too much still to let that happen.
"Maybe just some light heckling?" Jake suggested hopefully.

It was beyond awkward as Sunoo walked into the Park's home. Apparently it was a tradition to hold anniversaries in the home. Their large grounds had been turned into the hub of the celebration, a large stage being built outside for speeches and the live band to play music. There was also a large dance floor where guests currently slow danced under many stringed lights.
It was growing dark, allowing the glow of the lights to illuminate the party in a warm hue.
However, Sunoo couldn't admire the floral arrangements on the tall tables or the desserts being carried around by immaculately dressed wait staff because he was too distracted by the memory of running out of this very house after crying until he was dizzy. He was too focused on the vague memory of lips brushing his neck, words whispered into his skin.
