"How was dinner?"

"O-oh." Sunoo paused as he entered their room, returning from the dining hall and looking like he did not expect that, or any, question. "It was..." Slowly, he shut the door and said, "Good."

"You ate lots?" Sunghoon then asked from his bed, book still open but going ignored as he watched the younger move to his own bed and sit on the edge.

Again, Sunoo looked taken aback by the question. Truthfully, Sunghoon was a little confused as to why he had asked it as well. He hadn't even meant to ask the first question, it had just fell so naturally as soon as he had looked up to see Sunoo return.

"I... did."

When Sunghoon then had the urge to praise the younger for eating, he shook his head to remove that thought. Asking Sunoo if he ate was one thing, praising him for it was an entirely other thing. They were not that close yet, surely. They had tickled each other, straddled each other a couple of times but many people have done that. No reason to start obsessing over him and his eating habits.

"How is... everyone?"

Sunghoon had decided not to eat in the dining hall today, choosing to eat something smaller by himself in his room and ignore his self destructive thoughts. If he were to join everyone else he'd only have to dodge questions about why he wasn't sitting with Dae or try not to look at wherever Sunoo was sitting with no reason as to why his eyes searched for him in the first place.

"You mean Dae?" Sunoo asked after a moment, taking his jacket off and throwing it on the end of his bed, his voice a little quieter than before.

Honestly, Sunghoon hadn't meant Dae specifically. He had just assumed with his absence they may have all sat together and for some bizarre reason Sunghoon was curious to know if Sunoo had enjoyed sitting with his friends again.

"Just everyone."

Though the younger was looking away, Sunghoon heard a small sigh escape his lips before he said, "She's fine. Well... not great but neither of you will tell us why so I guess at the moment she's as best as she can be."

Sunoo had pushed himself to the backboard of his bed now as well, meaning they shared the same wall, both lying a couple of meters apart. They both looked straight forward, however, Sunghoon pretending to focus on his book and Sunoo becoming interested in his phone.

"Good... I'm glad." Sunghoon sighed, speaking more to himself than Sunoo.

He absolutely was not about to confide in Sunoo of all people about their break up but he was appreciative Sunoo had told him about Dae's state. Of course she wasn't going to be sunshine and rainbows but Sunghoon was happy she was able to be around everyone normally. That's more than Sunghoon can say for himself right now.

"And..." Sunghoon began, but shook his head again to remove the ridiculous question.

"And what?" Sunoo asked, sounding curious.

"Nothing, it's nothing." Sunghoon tightened his grip on his book, as though that would convey his desperate need to read and only read.

However, as annoying as ever, Sunoo repeated, "And what?"

So, Sunghoon was rolling his eyes and huffing, "And you?"

There was an uncomfortable silence in which Sunghoon refused to look over to Sunoo, because he could feel his eyes on him and he didn't want to look like he actually cared about the answer at all. It was a fleeting thought, that was all. Sunghoon can't help that he's a caring person.
