So maybe Sunoo put a little more effort into his hair and the way it was parted than usual. Maybe he took the time to wear something he knew he looked good in - tight, ripped jeans and a shirt that was unbuttoned over his collarbones.

Maybe he was thinking of Sunghoon as he got ready.

But he couldn't help it. Not when the very man was in the room next to him. Not when he had hugged him earlier with no reason other than he wanted to. Not when he was about to leave with him to walk to the party together.

Sunoo's fantasies had never had this much fuel, his yearning never this much reward.

And Sunoo knew he was crazy. He knew this was going to hurt but he was a fucking masochist and he wanted to pretend Sunghoon was his. Even if it hurt in the end, when reality hit him and Sunghoon was ripped away, Sunoo wanted him tonight.

So he took a deep breath, pulled on his boots, and pulled the door open when Sunghoon joined him.

"Do you think there'll be a lot of people there?"

Sunghoon searched for his eyes as he asked, "You nervous?"

"I'll be okay, Jake's always there for me." He assured, watching as Sunghoon looked away again.

They never stopped walking, finding the large hall that was going to be used, knowing it was only a couple of minutes away.

"Right, that's good." Sunghoon said belatedly, running a hand through his hair.

Sunoo followed the action as he usually did, with devotion.

Sunghoon wore a sweater that had large white lettering on the back spelling out 'be a good human'. Sunoo almost laughed at the universe and their not so subtle warning. As much as he wanted to obey, he wanted Sunghoon more.

"You too."

With that, Sunghoon looked up, eyes shaky and lips parted but no words falling. Sunoo didn't mind, he didn't expect an answer.

"I'll annoy you or something if I'm bored." He continued, laughing and waiting for Sunghoon to copy the noise.

"Ahh, right." He nodded, playfully exhausted as he furthered, "You're still on your brat agenda, then?"

Laughing harder, letting his arm touch Sunghoon's briefly before he was pulling away, Sunoo let his smile catch the older's eyes. Sunghoon was already watching as he confirmed, "Always."

They both looked away then, down to where their feet walked in sync, every step matched. They missed the matching smiles covering their faces as well.

As they neared the building in silence, Sunoo began to wonder what it would feel like to let his hand touch the older's. What would happen if he let his fingers graze Sunghoon's? Would he touch him back? Would he mean it?

"Sunoo!"

Taking a breath of air, like he needed encouragement, Sunoo removed Sunghoon from his mind and looked up to find Jake.

The older was at the entrance, waiting with Jay, a drink in both of their hands. A few other people Sunoo didn't recognise littered around them, some drinking and some talking. The silence that seemed to have only surrounded them slowly bled away as music and laughter burst their bubble.

"There's food!" Is the first thing Jake said when they stopped in front of them, making Sunoo smile.

"And we plan on eating it all." Jay continued informatively.

"Oh!" Jake suddenly gasped, eyes finding Sunoo. He was beginning to suspect his friend was a little bit drunk, at least tipsy. "Firstly, I need to show you something."

Sunoo didn't even get the chance to respond before a hand was wrapping around his wrist and pulling him through the doors. He heard Jay chuckling at them both before the music completely drowned them out. Even as Sunoo desperately looked over his shoulder, feeling genuine loss at being torn away from Sunghoon, he couldn't make out Sunghoon's expression through the people that blocked the doors.

He was pulled through the room until they stopped at an empty wall, and now Sunoo was certain Jake was drunk.

Jake looked at the wall, then at Sunoo, then at the wall again.

"I give up, what is it?" Sunoo gave in, leaning closer to Jake to hear him over the pounding music.

"Safety."

"Safety?"

Jake's eyes stuck to Sunoo's, a sure smile punctuating his words as he said, "Yes." Turning his body now, he explained, "From hot heterosexuals."

"I-" Sunoo was cut off by a finger pressing to his lips. Once again - Jake was definitely drunk.

"I have decided Sunghoon is too tempting. But heteros are the worst!" Jake argued adamantly, and Sunoo didn't have a counter argument. Heteros were the worst. If only they didn't exist, maybe then Sunoo would have held Sunghoon's hand earlier.

"So I am going to bring you gays! You will wait here and-" Though Jake was still speaking, he had already started to walk away and Sunoo stood frozen, not really sure what was happening. When he finally sprung into action and surged after his friend, he was slipping through the crowds and Sunoo wasn't even sure this was happening.

He looked around, at the people dancing, at the people talking, and found no one he knew. Huffing, Sunoo took a step backwards, hitting the wall. Perhaps it would be safety for the moment.

Though Sunoo's sure Jake would disapprove, his mind wandered over to Sunghoon. It was inevitable at this point - if Sunoo was breathing, he was thinking about Sunghoon.

"S-sorry."

A body stumbled into his own, anxiety flushing Sunoo before he looked up to find Wonho. Relief taking over him, Sunoo smiled at the man, thankful he didn't have to create conversation with someone he didn't know.

"No problem, Sunoo. I was actually looking for you." When Sunoo looked at him in question, Wonho returned the gesture with the explanation of, "Jake said you were searching for me?"

Realisation hitting him with an eye roll, Sunoo breathed, "Oh."

"I can leave if..."

"No, no." Sunoo laughed at Wonho's amused smile and scorned tone, realising how it looked.

It's not that Sunoo didn't want to talk to Wonho or didn't like his presence, he had just been annoyed with Jake. Of course he was trying to set him up with anyone else.

Though, deep down, Sunoo knew Jake was right.

After all, Sunghoon was straight and as Jake had said - heteros are the worst. Even though Sunoo knew removing his feelings for Sunghoon wouldn't be as easy as flicking a switch, he had to start somewhere. He had to at least locate a switch.

"No, don't leave. Wanna... get a drink?"
