"That's good news." She sighed in a way that made Sunghoon annoyed. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but the utter relief in her tone made him feel inadequate in some way.

"They'll be the others too. The guys and..." Not quite sure why his voice trailed off, Sunghoon finished, "Dae's friends."

"The boys we met at the party?" Misun asked nonchalantly, Sunghoon could feel her losing attention, probably overseeing something else as she spoke.

Though, Sunghoon didn't mind that as much in this instance as he just as casually responded, "Yes. We, uhh- We'll have time to get to know each other and-"

"How are you and Dae doing? At the event you both seemed a little distant."

Sunghoon was truly beginning to hate that word.

What did it even mean? How was he being distant? Misun hadn't even paid attention to him long enough to know if he was distant, or what it would look like when he was distant.

"You're not fighting, are you?"

"No. We're not fighting."

"Ahh, I'm glad." She sighed in relief, interest peeking as she continued. "We wouldn't want anything to disrupt your plan."

Right. His plan.

"What a beautiful plan it is." Misun said to herself more than anything, a hand probably clutched to her heart. "She'll just die when she sees the ring."

"Eomma, I haven't even-"

"You'll use your grandmother's." Misun interrupted without Sunghoon having to finish, seamlessly smoothing every crease in the plan without even breaking a sweat.

"Yes, but we don't know if she'll-"

"Of course she'll say yes, Sunghoon." Her tone carried light laughter, as though the notion was ridiculous. "You're head over heels for each other."

"Right." Sunghoon sighed, shoulders deflating. As he continued, he picked at the edge of his notebook and nibbled at his lip. "We are."

"It will all go according to plan, son." A smile laced through her words. Pride evident, she hummed, "Graduate, marry Dae, take over the company."

"E-Eomma..."

"Yes?"

Sunghoon wasn't really sure what he was going to say before Misun responded, but now, with the silence ringing in his ears and that mantra echoing in his mind, all Sunghoon could ask was, "So, you approve of the trip?"

He held his breath as Misun hummed, confirming, "As long as you'll keep up with your studies and use the time to further your skills and relationships."

Breathing out, heart hammering in his chest and the usual pressure his parents created pushing down on him, Sunghoon nodded.

"I will, Eomma." But his words sounded hollow, foreign to his ears. "Goodbye."

"Graduate." Sunghoon said, voice still hollow, like he was hearing someone else say it. The pen in his hands twirled slowly between his fingers, the phone lay forgotten in his other hand. "Marry-"

"Hey!"

"Dae?"

"I'm here to help you pack."

Still sat at his desk, Sunghoon watched as Dae pulled the doors of the wardrobe open and began to flick through the clothes. In a whirlwind of motion she chose a few pieces and threw them onto the bed, whites and yellows and blacks rushing past his line of sight. Sunghoon was used to Dae treating his own things like hers, as he did with her things, but this made him feel on edge.
