"You're kidding!" Misun laughed, looking over at Ni-ki.

"Our professor actually had to ask him to give someone else a chance at answering a question." Ni-ki continued, laughing and gesturing towards Sunghoon.

"Can we talk about something less embarrassing?" Sunghoon asked, feeling shy as Ni-ki talked about their shared business class and the embarrassing memory of talking so much that their professor had effectively told him to shut up.

"I like hearing stories about my son and how well he's doing." Misun argued, shushing Sunghoon and turning all of her attention onto Ni-ki as he continued.

Sunghoon groaned, leaning back into his seat.

Maybe part of the reason for his embarrassment was the fact Sunoo sat directly opposite him, sipping from his wine glass and listening to every word with a small smile.

Largely, they had avoided eye contact. There was only the odd moment they caught the other staring, which was far more flustering than usual for numerous reasons. For one, they were surrounded by their friends, and Sunghoon's parents sat at either end of the table like they were standing guard and monitoring their every move.

Another reason was definitely the fact Sunghoon hadn't been able to control himself or his stupid heart and had accidentally spoken out loud when he complimented Sunoo earlier. Though, it did earn him his very own Sunoo smile and a compliment in return so Sunghoon couldn't be too mad at himself.

At least he hadn't completely exposed himself and called Sunoo pretty.

However, there was always time for Sunghoon's humiliation and so he kept as quiet as he could, not wanting to risk anything tonight.

"And you were able to practice on the trip?"

Sunghoon noticed the conversation had moved onto a new topic as Jay answered, "Yes, there was time for practice and studying too. Of course Coach Chang wants us to focus even more now that we're home though."

"Good thinking. We don't want your success rate to drop after such an amazing start to the year." Sungwoo added, eating and conversing seamlessly.

Sunghoon wished he had inherited his Appa's sure, calm nature and wasn't currently staring at his plate and trying not to randomly declare that a boy was pretty.

"We're very proud to hear that you won as well." Sungwoo turned his attention onto Dae, the girl smiling and thanking him appreciatively. He turned his eyes from Dae to the person sitting next to him, furthering, "I'm sure Sunghoon has expressed his pride as well."

Then both of his parents were looking at him expectantly, like Sunghoon was supposed to start gushing over her right now in front of everyone. It wasn't that he didn't want to, or hadn't already told Dae he was proud, it's just that things were still awkward between them. Also, honestly, a part of him didn't want to feed into his parent's nature of forcing their relationship, especially now Sunghoon knew he didn't want the relationship.

"I have." Sunghoon nodded, waiting for his parents to look away. Clearly wanting more, they kept staring. So Sunghoon squoze his thighs beneath the table and added, "She was amazing."

As his parents smiled and reiterated the statement, Sunghoon's eyes found Sunoo and the younger was already looking at him with disheartened eyes. It didn't take a second longer for Sunghoon to add, eyes still on Sunoo, "They all were."

When his words came out softer than before, softer than Sunghoon intended, he felt his cheeks turn pink. However, he was too busy watching Sunoo try not to smile and avert his gaze to care.
