Waking up like he had done many times before, aching with the memory of Sunghoon, Sunoo sat up. This morning was different, however, because he was also aching with the memory of confessions.
He looked over to his left, finding an empty space where Dae had been the night before. It was painful to remember how he had fallen asleep crying next to her, her own tears drying on her cheeks. Though, Sunoo was thankful as much as he was in pain. Because Dae hadn't kicked him out and he hadn't fallen asleep to shouting and insults but promises that things would be okay.
"Oh, you're awake." The girl of his thoughts said, walking out of the bathroom, freshly changed into her cheer uniform, hair pulled into a bouncy ponytail.
Her smile almost reached her eyes as she joined Sunoo on the bed, pulling one leg onto the mattress whilst the other hung off the side. "You should get ready, it's our last match today. Home tomorrow."
"Oh yeah." Sunoo exhaled through the words. At the beginning of this trip he had been so excited for their competitions, for getting a chance of placing first, but now it just felt like another day he was going to have to piece everything together again after breaking it.
"Thank you. For letting me stay with you." Sunoo spoke softly, quietly, scared anything louder would break things even more.
"Any time." She promised and Sunoo cherished the words like they were the last thing he'd ever hear from her.
"I... I really am-"
"Don't." Dae interrupted, eyes dropping to her lap with a shake of her head before she found Sunoo again. "Please don't. I'm not ready to forgive you yet, Sunoo."
Pressing his lips together, Sunoo nodded. He understood why Dae wasn't ready. He had lied, he had loved her boyfriend, and he had kissed him too. It didn't make it hurt any less though.
"That doesn't mean I don't want to." She said, a small smile pulling into her lips, like she was hopeful for that day to come. "I'm still... trying to figure everything out in my head and it's going to take time. I think I need to talk to Sunghoon too. Just- Just try to understand everything."
"I get it, Dae, I do. If I can... help at all, in any way, then just ask, okay? I'll answer any questions and I promise," Sunoo made sure to put every last drop of honesty into his eyes as he finished, "Never to lie to you again."
Words were still difficult to find between them so Dae simply nodded, a hand briefly squeezing his leg before it was back in her lap.
"I think I'm still mad, at you both, and confused but..." Dae pressed her lips into a tight smile as she said, "Let's just focus on today. Yeah? Let's win and then go home."
Sunoo nodded, feeling his eyes begin to sting again as he smiled too. It didn't feel like he deserved Dae's forgiveness yet, but maybe that would change with time as well.

"So they were just... lying there? Totally fine?"
"I mean, I wouldn't say fine." Heeseung responded, pulling a face that told Jungwon he didn't quite know what to describe it as.
People were cheering around them, the last day of matches bringing heightened excitement and energy. Jungwon could see almost every single person in the audience screaming. Almost.
Over Heeseung's head, he could see Ni-ki and Jay talking before he found Sunghoon, hugging his legs to his chest and sitting in silence. He was tempted to go over and pull Sunghoon into a hug, but he had promised not to tell anyone what was happening. Sunghoon had made him swear to act normal, to give him the space and time he needed to entirely reevaluate his way of thinking.
