San is currently 22 years old. After Wooyoung left two years ago, he felt broken and guilty that Wooyoung left because of him. If he had been honest with Wooyoung and hadn't played with his heart, Wooyoung wouldn't have ever made this decision. San blamed himself everyday for it. He was the reason Wooyoung lost his bright smile, innocence and happiness. He turned Wooyoung into a cold and serious monster with zero feelings. San felt ashamed. He just wanted one chance to talk to Wooyoung. To tell him that it's his fault and that he's sorry. But Wooyoung was long gone. San was feeling guilty to even call him because he didn't want to ruin Wooyoung's life there too. He just wanted to see him, to talk to him and to tell him that he's sorry for his mistakes.
San sat in his study, staring outside the window with a distant look in his eyes. His thoughts were consumed by Wooyoung, the pure and innocent stepbrother of his that he had lost two years ago when he had done something unforgivable. San couldn't seem to shake off the guilt and shame that had been gnawing at him since that fateful day.
He remembered the last time he had seen Wooyoung, standing at the airport with tears in his eyes as he boarded the plane to Canada. San had stood there, frozen as he watched his stepbrother leave, knowing that he was the reason behind his departure.
Despite trying to move on and live his life, San couldn't forget the hurt and pain he had caused Wooyoung. He knew that he had betrayed their friendship and he cursed himself for it. He had let his impulsive nature get the better of him and it had cost him the most precious thing in his life - relationship with Wooyoung.
As San sat there lost in his thoughts, his wife Hyejin entered the room, dressed in a stunning red gown. She had spent hours getting ready for their dinner date, hoping to cheer up her husband and bring a smile to his face. But as she saw the distant look in his eyes, her heart sank. She knew that San was still carrying the burden of his past mistakes.
"San, are you ready?" Hyejin asked in a soft voice, trying to bring him back to the present.
San spared her a glance and gave a weak smile. "Yes, I am ready," he replied, getting up from his seat and fixing his tie.
Hyejin could sense the sadness and remorse in his tone and she knew that he was thinking about Wooyoung again. She wanted to comfort him and tell him that everything would be alright, but she also knew that it was something that only San could do for himself.
As they made their way to the restaurant, Hyejin tried to make small talk and distract San from his thoughts. But he seemed lost in his own world, only giving short responses to her questions.
Hyejin and San sat across from each other at a chic restaurant, the soft glow of candlelight added a romantic ambience to their dinner date. After ordering their food, Hyejin took a deep breath and spoke up, "San, there's something I've been wanting to talk to you about."
San looked at her curiously, "What is it, Hyejin?"
Hyejin hesitated for a moment before she found the courage to bring up the topic of having children. She knew it was a sensitive subject, but it was something that had been weighing heavily on her mind for a while now.
"I know we've discussed it briefly before, but I wanted to know if you've given any more thought to having kids."
San's expression changed, his brow furrowed and his eyes showed a hint of discomfort. "Honestly, Hyejin, the thought of having children hasn't really crossed my mind. I'm not sure I'm ready for that kind of responsibility yet."
Hyejin nodded, understanding his hesitation. But then she reminded him, "We've been married for two years now, and I'm getting older. It's always been my mother's wish to see me become a mother, and I want to know if that's something we can plan for in our future."
