As they arrived at the upscale restaurant, the ambiance was warm and elegant, with soft lighting and the gentle hum of conversation creating an inviting atmosphere. Hongjoong and Seonghwa were led to their table where Wooyoung and Minji were already seated. Wooyoung looked up and greeted them with a polite nod, while Minji offered a warm smile.
"Seonghwa, Hongjoong," Wooyoung said, gesturing to the empty seats. "Please, join us."
"Thank you," Hongjoong replied softly, slipping into his chair, his eyes briefly meeting Wooyoung’s before looking away. Seonghwa settled into his seat with a lazy smirk, his gaze lingering on Wooyoung with an unsettling intensity.
"Wooyoung," Seonghwa drawled, his eyes sweeping over him with a deliberate slowness. "It's been a while."
"Yes, it has," Wooyoung responded, his tone carefully neutral. "I'm glad we could finally arrange this meeting."
Minji glanced between them, sensing the tension but choosing to steer the conversation towards business. "So, we were thinking about the potential collaboration in the design department," she began. "With Virtuoso and Opulence working together, we could really create something unique."
Hongjoong nodded, grateful for Minji's effort to keep things professional. "Absolutely. Combining our strengths could lead to some innovative designs. Truly wonderful, Mr Jung"
Seonghwa leaned back in his chair, his eyes never leaving Wooyoung. "And what exactly do you envision, Wooyoung? How do you see our brands complementing each other?"
Wooyoung met Seonghwa’s gaze steadily. "I believe Virtuoso's avant-garde approach can pair well with Opulence's emphasis on luxury and detail. We could create a collection that blends the best of both worlds."
Seonghwa's smirk widened. "Interesting. And are you sure you're ready to handle such a partnership, Wooyoung? After all, it's a significant commitment."
Wooyoung's eyes narrowed slightly. "I wouldn't be here if I wasn't prepared, Seonghwa."
Minji interjected quickly, sensing the growing tension. "I think this collaboration could set a new standard in the industry. We have the potential to create something that hasn't been seen before."
"Indeed," Hongjoong added, his voice steady. "This could be a groundbreaking venture. It would be absolutely outstanding."
Seonghwa leaned forward, his gaze now sharper, more predatory. "And what about the creative differences? How do you plan to manage those, Wooyoung?"
Wooyoung took a deep breath, maintaining his composure. "By focusing on our shared vision and respecting each other’s creative input. It’s about collaboration, not competition."
Seonghwa’s smile didn’t reach his eyes. "Collaboration. Yes, that’s the ideal, isn't it?"
Minji, sensing the need to defuse the situation, turned to Hongjoong. "Hongjoong, I’ve heard wonderful things about your recent designs. How do you feel about merging your ideas with Virtuoso’s style?"
Hongjoong smiled faintly, grateful for the shift in focus. "I think there’s a lot of potential. Combining the boldness of Virtuoso with the elegance of Opulence could lead to something truly special. And with such cooperation from you and Wooyoung, we'd be unstoppable."
As the conversation continued, Seonghwa’s gaze kept drifting back to Wooyoung, his smirk never fading. The discussion about the collaboration moved forward, but the underlying tension remained, palpable and unsettling.
Throughout the dinner, Seonghwa's behavior grew more pronounced. He would occasionally make pointed comments or ask loaded questions, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
