Wooyoung's heart dropped as he turned pale, the color draining from his face. A million questions and possibilities raced through his mind about San. The room fell into a heavy silence, each person grappling with their own rising tide of concern.
"Wooyoung, what's wrong?" Yunho asked, his voice breaking the silence. "What did the hospital say?"
Wooyoung's voice was barely above a whisper. "The nurse... she said there's been a development with San," he managed to say, his eyes wide with fear. "They need me to come in immediately."
Everyone in the room stood up almost simultaneously, a sense of urgency gripping them. "We need to go, now," Minji said firmly, her worry etched in her features.
Mr. Choi felt tears rising for his son, his emotions raw and overwhelming. "Let's not waste any time," he said, his voice thick with emotion.
Wooyoung's mother clutched her chest, her face pale with worry. "We need to be there for San," she murmured, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
Minji felt a knot of anxiety in her stomach, the nurse's words echoing in her mind. "Come on, Wooyoung, let's go," she urged, her voice trembling slightly.
They hurriedly gathered their things and rushed to their cars. Wooyoung drove, his hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. Jiwoo sat in Minji's lap in the passenger seat, her eyes wide with curiosity but sensing the tension in the air. Yunho, Risa, and Mingi piled into the back, their faces etched with worry and concern.
Mr. Choi and Wooyoung's mother followed closely in their own car, the urgency of the situation pressing down on them. The drive to the hospital was filled with a heavy silence, each person lost in their own thoughts and fears.
As they pulled into the hospital parking lot, Wooyoung's heart pounded in his chest. They hurried out of the cars and rushed inside, the sterile smell of the hospital hitting them as they entered.
A nurse recognized Wooyoung and guided them towards San's room. "Mr. Wooyoung, please follow me," she said, her tone professional yet compassionate.
The walk down the hallway felt interminable, every step laden with anticipation and dread. Wooyoung held Jiwoo tightly, her presence a small comfort amidst the chaos.
Finally, they reached San's room. The nurse gestured for them to enter. "The doctor will be in shortly to explain everything," she said gently.
Wooyoung's eyes scanned the room, his heart aching at the sight of San lying still in the hospital bed. He felt a mixture of hope and fear, not knowing what news awaited them.
Minutes felt like hours until the doctor arrived, his expression serious but calm. "Mr. Wooyoung, Mr. and Mrs. Choi, everyone," he began, addressing the group. "There's been a significant change in San's condition. We need to discuss it further."
The doctor's words hung in the air, the weight of the moment pressing down on them. Wooyoung steeled himself for whatever news was to come, surrounded by the support and love of his family and friends, ready to face whatever lay ahead for San.
Wooyoung's mind was an ocean whose waves roared with San's name. San, the man who owned Wooyoung's heart. He could barely keep his emotions in check as he stood by San's bedside, his eyes teary and his heart aching. What would the doctor tell them? He prayed fervently for good news, his thoughts a desperate plea for San's recovery.
He stole a glance at Jiwoo, who was perched innocently in Minji's lap. She was blissfully unaware of the turmoil surrounding her father, oblivious to the fact that San had spent almost two years in a coma. Two long years had passed without Jiwoo feeling her father's warmth, without experiencing his love, or hearing his gentle voice.
