18. Chale Udaipur?

Neil stopped the car and looked at Aarohi's face. She was already looking at him. Neil held her hand.
Neil: tum ready ho? Chale andar?
Aarohi looked behind Neil and shook her head positively.
They came to the police station.
Neil and Aarohi went inside.
Constable: bataiye sir. Kya chahiye aapko?
Neil: f.i.r. likhvana hai.
Constable: vaha SI sir bethe hai jaake miliye.
They both went to SI and sat down.
Neil: sir f.i.r. file karvani hai.
SI: case kya hai?
Aarohi: rape case hai sir.
SI took a notepad and a pen and asked
SI: victim koun hai?
Aarohi: main sir. Aarohi Goenka.
SI: culprit koun hai pata hai?
Aarohi: ji sir. Jaan pehchan ki hi hai.
SI: Naam kya hai?
Aarohi: vikrant mehrotra.
SI: kab hua hai?
Neil: chipkali tumhe date yaad hai?
Aarohi looked towards Neil.
Aarohi: chahke bhi bhul nahi skti.
SI: toh bataiye date kya hai?
Aarohi: 23 June 2022.
SI: matlab do saal ho gaye. Aap ne case kyun nahin kiya abhi tak?
Neil: toh abhi f.i.r. nahi Kara sakte hai kya sir?
SI: aisi baat nahi hai. karva sakte hai. (Writing the date in the notepad) Kahaan pe hua yeh?
Aarohi: Udaipur main sir.
SI: toh aap yaha kyu aaye? Udaipur main hua hai toh Kolkata main f.i.r. nahi Kara sakte hai. Aapko Udaipur main hi karvana padega.
Neil: sir victim yahi pe hai, culprit yahin hai toh kyun nahi ho sakta.
SI: incident jahaan hota hai vahi f.i.r. file Kara sakte ho.
Neil: aise kaise nahi ho sakta. Yeh kya keh rahe sir aap justice toh kahi bhi milna chahiye.
Said Neil in anger.
SI: dekho main Shanti se baat kar Raha hu. Bekhar main tamasha mat banao. Aarohi ji samjhaiye inhe.
Aarohi got up and apologized SI and took Neil from there.
Aarohi: Neil kya hua tumhe. Itna gussa kyun ho rahe ho. Voh SI sahi keh raha tha na Hume hi nahi pata tha.
Neil: tum sahi keh rahe ho. Chalo Ghar chalte hai.
Aarohi nodded and sat in the car.
They reached home when Aarohi was opening the car door, Neil stopped her.
Neil: toh... Kya socha?
Aarohi: kiske baare main?
Neil: kiske baare main kya? Memory loss hai kya? Case ke baare main?
Aarohi: pata nahi.
Neil: chale Udaipur?
Aarohi: mujhe kuch samajh main nahi aa raha hai chamgadar.
Neil: abhi jaldi nahi hai. Aaram se soch kar bata do. Main toh taiyaar hu.
Aarohi left from there thinking about it.
Neil also left for his flat.
It is almost midnight now and none of them are asleep. They both are thinking about going to Udaipur.
Neil's phone rang and he immediately picked up the call.
Neil: kya hua itni raat ko call kiya? Sab thik toh hai na? Chipkali are you fine?
Aarohi: shaant ho jao chamgadar main thik hu. Aur sorry Maine time nahi dekha toh itni raat ko call kar diya.
Neil: toh tum bhi abhi tak nahi soyi.
Aarohi: tum bhi matlab tum bhi nahi soyi?
Neil: nahi
Aarohi: thik hai phir call rakh deti hu.
And Aarohi cut the call. Neil put his phone in the pocket and went out closing the door. He was going up to Aarohi's flat.
Neil came inside and closed the door.
Neil: neend kyun nahi aayi tumhe?
Aarohi came out from the kitchen and gave a cup to Neil. She sat on the sofa next to him.
Aarohi: kuch socha hai maine.
Neil: kya?
Aarohi: main Udaipur chalne ke liye taiyaar hu.
Neil smiled hearing her decision.
Aarohi: lekin... (Neil turned towards her) Main apni Ghar nahi Jaa sakti. Kisi hotel main rahungi.
Neil: dekho main tumhe Ghar Jaa ne ke liye nahi kahunga lekin tum hotel main nahi rahoge.
Aarohi: toh kaha rahu?
Neil: humare Ghar main.
Aarohi: par...
Neil: kya par... Ab yeh mat kehna ki samaaj kya sochega (said Neil dramatically) tum apni behen ki sasural main kuch din Rukh Rahi ho mere saath akeli nahi....nahi.
Aarohi: tumhare saath akeli toh main yaha bhi rehti hun toh
Aarohi stopped realising what she said and she bit the insides of her mouth.
Neil(teasing her said): ji... Kuch kaha aapne?
Aarohi: kuch sunai Diya aapko?
Neil: haanji!!
Aarohi: kyaa ji?
Neil: ki main niche se upar shift ho jaaun...
Aarohi: chup raho.
Said Aarohi and left from there not after snatching the cup from his hand.
After some time Aarohi came back.
Neil: toh kab jaaye?
Aarohi: tum batao kab chale?
Neil: kal... Main tickets book kardunga.
Aarohi nod her head.
Neil: good night.
Aarohi: good night.

The next morning.
Neil called Aarohi.
Aarohi: haan chamgadar bolo?
Aarohi heard some big sound.
Aarohi: kya sound hai voh kya kar rahe ho?
Neil: voh sorry sorry. Phone pe baat bhi kar raha hun aur suitcase nikal raha tha upar se toh gir gaya.
Aarohi: packing kar rahe ho?
Neil: haan Aaj shaam 4 baje ki flight hai tum bhi packing karlo.
Aarohi: haan thik hai. Tumne Ghar main bataya ki aarahe hai hum?
Neil: nahin. Tum kardoge bhabhi ko?
Aarohi: tum apne Bhai ko Karo aur main apni Bhai ko karungi.
Neil: haan ok
Said Neil gritting his teath.
Aarohi: chalo ab 2 baje milte hai.
Neil: haan thik hai.
At around 2:00pm
Neil went up after locking his door. Neil was carrying a small backpack. He went up to Aarohi's flat and he rang the bell.
Aarohi opened the door.
Neil: chale keys kahaan hai main lock kar deta hun.
Aarohi: are rukho meri luggage toh laane   do.
Neil: acha Kahan hai main laata hun.
Aarohi: bag meri room main hai bed ke paas aur keys key holder pe. Tum bag laake lock kardo main thaku maa ke paas Jaa Rahi hu.
Neil nod his head and went inside.
Neil was shouting from inside.
Neil: chipkali ruko main bhi aaraha hun.
Aarohi: thik hai jaldi aao.
Neil came back with her bag and keys and locked the door.
Neil and Aarohi went to thaku maa.
Aarohi: thaku maa amara Udaipur Jaa cchhi (we are going to Udaipur)
Sumati: abhi?
Neil: haan thaku maa abhi Jaa rahe hai.
Sumati: Vaapas kab?
Aarohi: pata nahi thaku maa kisi kaam se jaa rahe hai. Kab khatam hoga pata nahi.
Sumati: thik hai phir pohochne ke baad call karna.
Aarohi: ji
And Neil and Aarohi left for the airport.
They both were waiting in the airport.
Aarohi: tumne Abhimanyu ko call kardiya na?
Neil: haa maine kar diya aur Bhai ne babhi ko nahi bataya.
Aarohi: kyu?
Neil: kyunki voh Babhi ko surprise karna chahte hai.
Aarohi: par maine Bhai ko bata Diya hai. Unhone akshu ko call kardiye honge.
Neil: nahi karenge maine Bhai ko keh Diya ki tumne Kairav ko call kiya hai. Bhai Kairav ko bata diye honge plan ke baare main.
Aarohi: kya zaroorat hai itna manage karke plan karne ki.
Neil: babhi ki Kushi dekhne ke baad tum yeh nahi kahoge.
Aarohi smiled.
Aarohi: sahi kaha tumne. Voh bohot kush ho jaayegi.
