'Ladies and gentlemen, we have now started our descent towards Tokyo Narita International Airport. Please make sure your seat belt is securely fastened and all carry-on luggage is stowed underneath the seat in front of you, or in the overhead bins.'
As the aircraft carefully started its descend through the clouds, piercing the sky above Tokyo, a young woman excitedly sat there, her gaze fixed upon the window, as the huge towers of the sprawling city soon came into view. Her heart pounded in her chest with a mixture of excitement and apprehension, for she was returning to a place that she held close to her heart.
'I'm home. Finally.' She thought as the engine touched down on the runway with a gentle thud.
It had been ten years.
Ten whole years, since Eliana had traded her dear Japan for the unknown. For years, she had travelled the world, discovered new cultures, met new people, and carefully stayed away from the country where she grew up, and which held so many memories. However, now was her time to return, and reconnect with the land she sadly had left behind all those years ago.
'Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Tokyo ! On behalf of the entire crew, I'd like to thank you for joining us on this trip, and we look forward to seeing you on board again soon. Have a pleasant stay !'
The girl excitedly unfastened her seatbelt and reached out for her purse in the overhead bin, before exiting the plane.
As she navigated through the airport, her heart pounded with excitement. She couldn't help but wonder how much Tokyo could had changed in her absence, and whether she would still be able to find her place in this vibrant city.
She patiently waited at the luggage claim, before exiting the airport and hailing a cab.
- And where is that you're headed, madam ? The conductor asked as the girl climbed into the backseat.
Eliana gave the man the address of a hotel not too far away from the gates of Jujutsu High's campus. From there, she would have to walk to get to her destination.
The school building was well hidden on Tokyo's outskirts, but no non-sorcerers were to know about its existence, and even though a protective barrier prevented humans for possibly entering the school, it was common procedure to never give out its exact coordinates.
As the taxi wound its way through the bustling streets of Tokyo, the woman's thoughts drifted back in time, as she sat in apprehension. She reminisced on her time at Jujutsu High. The place where she held her dearest memories, and had met her closest friends.
She thought of Suguru Geto, the quiet, introspective student whose wisdom belied his true age. He was always the kind one, putting the others above himself. But most importantly, he had always had a knack for seeing through the surface and understanding the true nature of things, a quality that had earned him the respect and admiration of his classmates back in the days.
And then there was Satoru Gojo. The infamous Satoru Gojo, with his piercing blue eyes and his infectious grin. He always had a way of lighting up any room he entered, and bring a smile on the girl's face in any circumstances. He was entitled, and quite full of himself, that was for sure, as throughout his entire life, he had almost been worshipped for being the strongest, with those phenomenal capacities of his he inherited from his clan.
Together, they were inseparables. Best friends. Their bond stronger than any curse that dared to cross their path. When you saw one, the two others weren't far behind. They did everything together. Hell, they even had plans to move in, all three of them, after graduating high school. It was always the three of them. The infamous, inseparable trio of Jujutsu High.
Well, at least, that is how it used to be.
Because 10 years ago, a tragedy severely shattered their bond, and tore them all apart.
Suguru Geto, her quiet, compassionate friend that she so dearly loved, had been banned from the school, and condemned to death, after ruthlessly murdering an entire village.
His departure had left an immense void and pain that Gojo and the girl had been incapable to fill. And despite their efforts to maintain their friendship, the circumstances and the passing time only contributed to weaken their bond, and have them slowly drift apart.
The girl's departure was the final blow to what had once been an unbreakable bond, and throughout all the years she had spent abroad, away from Tokyo and the memories it held, they had not spoken to each other. Not even once.
And now that she was on her way back, after all those years, she couldn't help but apprehend their reunion.
