She blinked her eyes open. Visibly, she had been out for quite some time, because she was laying in an unfamiliar bed, and not in the forest. Slowly sitting up, she scanned the room and noticed Yuji sitting in a chair beside her bed, his expression filled with worry.
- "Eliana-san, you're awake!" Yuji exclaimed, jumping to his feet and rushing to her side.
- "Hey, Yuji," she greeted him weakly, managing a small smile despite the lingering ache in her body.
- "We were so worried. When you collapsed on Gojo sensei after the fight..."
Eliana reached out and squeezed his hand reassuringly.
- "I'm okay, really. There was no need to take me to the infirmary, some people most likely need medical attention way more than I do."
The pink haired boy shook his head.
- "No one got really hurt, thankfully. Maki and Todo have some light injuries, but nothing serious. The campus though... it's, well. Not in the best state."
The girl nodded, remembering that Gojo had indeed obliterated half the forest with his cursed technique. And they didn't even managed to get that blue haired freak in the process.
- "Yuji, do you know where Sato- Where Gojo is?"
Yuji grinned at Eliana's attempt to hide the fact she almost called by his first name, but didn't make any comments about it.
- "Yeah, he had to be there for the meeting Yaga organized after yesterday's... incident. They're all in the conference room, though he stayed with you all the time, you know. Before he had to leave."
- "He stayed all this time?" Eliana repeated, a hint of disbelief in her voice.
The boy nodded energetically, and pointed the chair where he was previously sitting.
- "He spent the whole night on this chair. He was worried, the nurses said he should go get some rest but he just... wouldn't leave you. Eventually, he had to go take a shower and attend the meeting, but he really left the room reluctantly."
A soft smile tugged at Eliana's lips as she listened to Yuji's recounting. Despite their complicated relationship right now, Gojo's concern for her touched her deeply. It was a side of him she hadn't seen before, and it left her feeling both grateful and unsettled.
- "Thank you for telling me, Yuji," she said, her voice filled with genuine appreciation. "I... I'll go find him-"
But as she tried to sit up, a sharp pain shot through her side, causing her to wince.
- "Whoa, take it easy," Yuji cautioned, reaching out to steady her. "The nurses said you should rest for the day, so don't try to stand up, you took quite the hit back there."
Eliana nodded, breathing deeply to calm herself as she adjusted to the discomfort.
- "Yeah, I guess I did."
She laid back in her bed, frustrated.
- "Don't worry", the teen said, grinning. "As soon as the meeting is over, you can be sure that visiting you is gonna be the first thing on Gojo-sensei's list. I'll let you rest now. But if you need anything, just let me know!"
With that, the boy turned to leave, his footsteps echoing softly against the tiled floor of the infirmary. But Eliana wasn't alone for long, because a few minutes only after the boy had left, a familiar face peeked his head inside the room.
- "Eli, I'm so glad you're okay," Gojo exclaimed as soon as his eyes met with hers. The man stepped closer to her bed and grabbed her hand. "You had us all worried," he admitted.
