She sat on a chair, her eyes never leaving his face as he took a seat opposite her. They were in a small wooden house, up in the mountains. She looked around the dimly lit room, the scent of old wood filling her nostrils. Suguru and her had walked for quite a while to get there. On the way, she had tried to get some informations from him, but he would simply change the subject and pretext that they needed to get to safety before they could talk properly.
Which they were now.
- "I'm going to make some tea", the man said as he took out a kettle.
As he poured hot water into cups, his back turned to her, Eliana was still trying to process the situation she was in right now.
In a remote house in the mountains. With her presumed dead friend. And the others not having a clue where she even was.
That's not how she had pictured her Friday night, that's for sure.
Suguru handed her a cup, and she took it gratefully, the warmth spreading through her hands.
- "So, start from the beginning. What happened to you? Ever since you disappeared, I mean..."
Suguru leaned back, a thoughtful expression crossing his features.
- "I didn't exactly disappear, Eli. After... After Riko's death and my confrontation with Toji, I started questioning everything. The system, the purpose of sorcery, and the lives we were leading. I saw so much suffering, so many innocent people caught in the crossfire. I started to believe that there had to be a better way, a way to change the system fundamentally."
Eliana frowned, remembering the turmoil he had gone through.
- "But why didn't you talk to us? We could have helped you. In Shinjuku that day..."
- "I know," he sighed. "But I felt... isolated. Even with you and Satoru by my side, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was alone in my beliefs. I started to see non-sorcerers as the root of all the suffering. It became an obsession, and I didn't want to drag you both down with me."
Eliana's heart ached at his words. She took a sip of her tea, her eyes staring at the floor.
- "So you left to pursue this... new path?"
- "Yes", he nodded. "I thought I could make a difference, but things spiraled out of control. I became something I never wanted to be. And now, I'm trying to make amends, to find a way back to the right path."
- "And what's the right path, Suguru?"
- "The right path is making things right with the people I care about, starting with you and Satoru", he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I needed to see you before I make my grand return. I need your approval, Eliana. You're the only friend I have left."
So he wanted redemption, or something like that. Come back to the right path. But did the man forget he had been gone for over 10 years. Worse, he was believed to be dead as of last year. His return would be a shock to everyone. Not to mention he was supposedly sentenced to death...
- "Why me, Suguru? Why now, after all this time?" she asked, her voice trembling.
- "Because I can't face Satoru without knowing how you feel", he admitted. "I needed to know if there was still a chance for redemption, if there was still a part of me worth saving. And you're the only one who can give me that answer."
But as he spoke, Eliana's vision slightly began to blur, her thoughts becoming fuzzy. She tried to focus on his words, but a sudden wave of drowsiness washed over her.
- "I don't know if I can give you the approval you're looking for, Suguru", she said, tiredly. "But I do know that you need to confront Satoru. You need to..."
Her eyelids grew heavy, and she struggled to keep them open. Suguru's face seemed to swim before her eyes, his features growing hazy.
- "You... need to tell him everything..." she mumbled, her head nodding forward as sleep overtook her.
Suguru watched as Eliana's breathing deepened, her body relaxing into the chair. He stood up, a satisfied smile playing on his lips.
Everything was going according to plan.

- "So, did she believe it?"
The man smirked and sat down at the table.
- "She completely fell for it."
Jogo let out a satisfied grunt.
- "She's even more stupid than I thought", he chuckled. "And she already wasn't the brightest when I fought her."
Suguru... Or should we say, Kenjaku's eyes glinted with a mix of amusement and cold calculation. He leaned back, his confidence palpable.
- "Eliana is the perfect bait. Her disappearance will unsettle Gojo, and he won't be able to ignore it. He'll come looking for her, and when he does, we'll be ready to seal him."
Mahito grinned, his eyes gleaming with malevolent delight.
- "The mighty Gojo Satoru, the man with no weaknesses... brought down by his own emotions. How poetic."
- "Finally, we'll rid the world of his insufferable existence."
Kenjaku's voice was smooth, almost soothing.
- "Patience, everyone. This is the culmination of our efforts. Gojo's strength is unparalleled, but his heart... that's where he's vulnerable. Eliana is our key to exploiting that weakness."
Hanami's vines rustled softly.
- "And once Gojo is sealed, nothing will stand in our way."
Kenjaku's expression darkened, a cold, calculated determination in his eyes.
- "Precisely. Without Gojo, the balance of power shifts. We will be unstoppable."
- "And Eliana?" The one named Choso asked. "What will we do with her?"
- "She served her purpose. What happens to her after... well, that's of little consequence."
The room fell into a sinister silence, each curse lost in thoughts of the impending victory.
Kenjaku's plan was in motion, and with Eliana as their unwitting pawn, the trap for Gojo was set.
And now, all they had to do now was wait and watch as their enemies fell into their carefully laid snare.
