- "You seem nervous", Suguru remarked, his voice smooth and calm as ever.
Eliana forced a smile, trying to brush off her apprehension. They had been waiting for a few minutes already, and still no signs of the white haired sorcerer.
- "It's nothing. Just... anticipation, I suppose."
Suguru arched an eyebrow, his gaze piercing through the darkness.
- "Oh, rest assured. I can assure you that our reunion will be a grand moment. One that he will certainly remember..."
Eliana's smile faltered slightly at Geto's words, a chill running down her spine at the ominous tone in his voice. She couldn't shake the feeling of unease that gnawed at her insides. She could feel that there was something... off about this encounter. She had known Suguru for years, but... there was something different about him. She had noticed it the moment they had met, but she had just assumed that she simply hadn't seen him in 10 years.
And people change in 10 years.
She pushed aside her doubts. She had to stop overthinking. Suguru was standing right next to her, ready to ackowledge the mistakes of his past, and reunite with his old friend.
Soon, they would be the trio they used to be.
- "What if he doesn't show up?" Eliana asked, even though she doubted that the white haired man would let such an opportunity pass.
Geto's lips curled into a smirk, his eyes glinting with amusement.
- "Oh, don't worry about Satoru. He'll come around eventually."
After all, he doesn't really have a choice in the matter.
And suddenly, from afar, she discerned two blue orbs glowing in the dark, advancing slowly towards them. As they grew closer, the familiar silhouette of Satoru Gojo emerged from the darkness of the forest. His expression was stern, and his eyes widened at the sight in front of him. He tried to regain his composure rapidly, but his confusion betrayed him.
What the hell was going on here.
- "Yo, Satoru", Geto smirked. "It's been a while."
But Gojo certainly did not return that smile. He just stood there, his gaze fixed on Geto with an intensity that made Eliana's blood run cold. There was a tension in the air, palpable and suffocating, as the two men faced each other in silent confrontation.
Physically, it was their Suguru, and his six eyes could not betray him....
But his soul was rejecting all of that.
His gaze bore into Geto's form, searching for any sign of deception, any hint of the truth behind the facade. But if it wasn't for the scar on his forehead, he could not be mistaken. It was Suguru Geto, there was no doubt about it. However, whatever was inside, was not their friend.
Gojo clenched his fist.
- "Eliana, step away from him." His voice cut through the silence like a knife, his tone commanding and urgent.
Eliana's heart skipped a beat at the seriousness in his voice, and she stood there, confusion written all over her face.
- "What's this, Satoru?" Geto's tone was mocking. "Are you not happy to see your old friend?"
But Gojo remained silent, his eyes never leaving Geto's form. There was a dangerous glint in his gaze, a silent warning that sent shivers down Eliana's spine.
- "Look Satoru I know this is all very confusing", Eliana began, hesitantly. "I myself couldn't believe it when I saw him but... it's really Suguru. He's alive. The note you guys received was a fake, to make you believe he was dead. But it's him, rea-"
- "Eliana, just do as I said," Gojo interrupted her, his voice low and urgent. "Something is wrong. Step away from him. Now!"
Eliana recoiled, confusion swirling in her mind. Though she didn't move. She clenched her first, eyes staring at the ground.
- "Suguru is dead, Eliana", Gojo said bluntly, not breaking eye contact with the man whatsoever. "There is no way for him to be standing in front of us right now."
- "No Gojo listen, the note was fake", Eliana said, her tone trying to sound reassuring. "Suguru explained everything to me! The note was sent to Jujutsu High to make you all think that he was dead, but it was just to deceive you..."
- "He is dead, Eliana!"
Gojo's tone was sharp, his patience wearing thin. Anger simmered beneath the surface of his words, a fiery intensity burning in his blue eyes as he struggled to contain his anger with the situation displaying in front of his eyes right now.
- "Why the hell are you so entitled to your own truth? Suguru is standing right there, in front of us, and yet you still refuse to-"
- "Because there never was a note in the first place!"
Eliana stood there, taken aback by the revelation. She frowned her eyes, as her heart started pounding louder in her chest.
- "What do you mean there was never a note..?" she stammered, her voice trembling. "You told me that you learnt about Suguru's death with-"
- "Well I lied", the man simply replied.
- "You... lied? But why?" Eliana's voice wavered, her eyes searching his for any sign that this was some sort of twisted joke.
- "Eliana, this is not the time or place for this", he replied, his voice tinged with urgency. "You need to trust me on this. Get away from him before-"
- "I'm not gonna step away until you tell me truth," the girl vociferated, her teeth clenched as she stared right into the man's blue orbes. "I am sick and tired of being lied to. How can you be so sure than Geto's dead, uh? You weren't fucking there!"
- "BECAUSE I'M THE ONE WHO KILLED HIM!"
Gojo's words echoed through the silent night, reverberating through Eliana's mind like a thunderclap. She recoiled as if struck, her eyes widening in shock and disbelief.
- "You... what...?"
Eliana's breath caught in her throat, her chest tightening with a mixture of horror and confusion.
- "I killed Suguru", Gojo repeated, his tone firm but tinged with a hint of remorse. "He was dying, I... put him out his misery."
Eliana took a step back, her eyes widened in disbelief. She had known Satoru for years, had trusted him implicitly... And yet...
But at that very moment, something was more important than to confront him with his actions. Because if what he has just said was true, then...
The girl slowly turned around, her entire body trembling, as she met the eyes of the man behind her.
- "No..."
