While most students had gone to sleep for the night, I was an exception.

I had received an email from Chabashira-Sensei "requesting" my presence in the ship's theater.  It was less of a request, and more of a demand. I opened the double doors of the theater, I entered to see essentially no one in the theater besides the actors on stage of course.

They seemed to be performing Icarus, the Greek Myth of the boy who earned wax wings and tried to fly. This boy, however, flew too close to the sun, resulting in the burning of his wings. The moral is, of course, to not become carried away with technological advancements.

This was proven true time and time again by tragedies resulting from humanities want of power and the unquenchable thirst for exploration and innovation.

My eyes scanned through the seats, not finding it hard at all to find my teacher two seats into the third aisle out of the thirty aisles total.

I walked down the carpeted floor, thoughts of why she requested my presence swirling through my mind.

"Good evening, Chabashira-Sensei!" I said with a smile.

"Hm, good evening to you as well, Ayanokouji-Kun," she responded, emotionless. She didn't bother to look at me, her eyes instead trained upon the stage.

"So," I started, taking my seat, "why have you called me here? Are you unimpressed with our results?"

Chabashira-Sensei shook her head, "not at all. You may still be Class D, however you have all shown potential."

"So it's not about that."

"Well, to be brief, a man called the school. He asked the school to expel you."

"Oh? Who was this man?" I probed. Whoever this man was must be either my father or someone closely related to him.

"Well this man claimed to be your father, however, there is no definitive proof of that."

"I see..."

"And how did the school respond?"

"Well Chairman Sakayanagi informed this man that the only way you will be leaving this school is either at graduation, a withdrawal of your own accord, or your own expulsion due to en exam or midterm," she stated firmly before adding slyly, "or by the recommendation of your homeroom teacher."

I flicked my eyes over to her to see her reaction: She was smiling slightly, eyes closed and her arms crossed.

"I'm sure you understand what I'm implying, no?"

"Of course I do, but you wouldn't have your own student expelled, would you?" I asked, trying to make eye contact with her.

She smiled, "Ayanokouji-Kun, you can stop pretending to be a kind person. I know what you are."

"Oh," I shrugged, "well if you intend to expel me, what do you gain from it?"

My first guess is money, followed by a political position.

"Your father and I are very close friends, and maintaining that relationship is important to me."

I stayed silent and stared menacingly at her, my gaze shooting through her skull. I suppose killing her would be easy, simply crushing her skull. That would be too risky and hard considering the security levels on this ship.

"However, I suppose if you can extend an offer greater than your father's, I could keep you around. I can tell you have great prospects, Ayanokouji-Kun."

"Surely you don't mean you are interested in the profits of something that may or may not even exist?"

"Ayanokouji-Kun, I know exactly what happened on the island. I know you willingly allowed Ichinose's class to win first place at the cost of your class's advantage."
