I sipped on my black coffee as I walked along the path to the school building. The air was cold, allowing for my breath to be seen in the air.

Outside of the school building, I saw a figure.

"Kiryama-Senpai, how are you?" I asked, approaching the boy.

He looked over at me and said, "Good, how are you?"

"I'm fine. I'm glad you could make it here on such short notice," I replied.

"The cafe you got that coffee from is rather good, one of my favorites."

"Seems like it's becoming more popular," I chuckled, "The coffee is so tasty."

"Indeed," he said. Noticing that he was hesitating about something, I decided to ask upfront instead of letting him writhe in silence.

"So why are you waiting out here?" I asked.

He sighed before speaking, "I wanted to let you know about something important regarding the 2nd years."

"The 2nd years? How would that be important to me?"

"Another argument occurred between Nagumo and a member of Class D. They were arguing over something regarding the exam, but it seems to me that the boy refused to go along with the plan," supplied Kiryama.

It seems that due to Nagumo taking a hit in class points at the start of the year, some people are beginning to question his authority.

"So what of the boy now?" I asked.

"Expelled. Expelled to the same exam. The expulsions in our year have increased, specifically in Class D and C. My class has been narrowly avoiding expulsions, but I fear that we're falling behind once again."

"Interesting."

He raised his eyebrow, "Is that all you have to say?"

"Basically, yeah. If you're looking for some sort of help, you're asking the wrong person," I said with a shrug of my shoulders.

"It's a bit uncharacteristic to seek this from somebody, but, do you have any advice?"

Asking for advice? He really is desperate.

"Well," I started, "I'm not going to choose a side by supplying advice to anybody. I act in my and my class's interest. But, if I had to say something, I would suggest you make some more friends."

"Friends. As if I haven't tried that already."

"Have you tried it recently?" I asked.

"At the start of the year, but they were less than willing to hear me out," replied Kiryama.

"Try again."

When I say friends, I am of course referring to members of the other classes. In a time when the cracks begin to appear in Nagumo's regime, striking at the cracks is your best option.

He nodded, "We should go inside now. Best not to keep the others waiting."

"Sure! Besides all of that, how has your vacation been so far?"

Kiryama shrugged, "Not riveting exactly, though, I have plans with a girl from my class tomorrow."

Even he is interested in a love life?

"How funny."

"Funny? How's that? Don't tell me you thought I only think about schoolwork."

I pretended to be nervous and said, "Well, maybe. You have always struck me as the type to prioritize having a quiet life over anything else."
