The day of the mock exam arrived. After discussing our plan with the rest of the class, they all agreed, even the two problem children.

When Chabashira walked into class that morning, she wore a familiar devious smirk on her smooth face, "well, well, Class D. I must say I am thoroughly surprised."

"Surprised? By my manileness?" asked Yamauchi from the back.

Chabashira ignored it and continued on, "in my many years of teaching here, I have never seen such an interesting pattern of attack for this exam. Class C and Class A are targeting one another."

By process of elimination that means Class D and Class B are going head-to-head, which is just as I intended for it to be.

I wonder who Class C had chosen to target? Katsuragi likely would have targeted my class, but I also think Sakayanagi targeted Ichinose.

Maybe if I run into her I'll ask about it. That would give me insight into her true beliefs, which would help me later when there is an inevitable confrontation.

"I hope you all prepared," said Chabashira, "if you all have remembered, I said this exam was one of the most dangerous you have faced yet. Still, you have performed quite well. I hope this exam isn't the one to end the streak."

Everyone nodded, and with that, she began to hand out the papers.

The questions were extremely easy. As she said, they were middle school-level questions, so everyone here should be capable of manipulating their scores.

When I finished, with a 100 guaranteed, I decided to sleep for the rest of the period. Before falling asleep, I noticed everyone had finished their tests. After all, for the majority of the class they only had to answer 2 questions max.

I drifted to sleep.

"Wake up."

Oh curses. It's the devil's voice I fear.

Horikita must be standing over me right now. I pretended to be still asleep, hoping she would leave me along.

"Please merciful Gods keep me safe."

"I know you're awake."

No you don't. Unless you're psychic or have some kink for sleeping people, you would have no idea if someone was pretending to sleep or not at your level.

"I warned you."

Subsequent to that, I felt something stab into my arm. Unfortunately, I couldn't feign sleep with a stab wound.

"Ow...what was that for?!"

"For ignoring me. I knew you were awake."

"How?"

"A gut feeling, you could say."

"Heh, I guess I deserved it."

Horikita sighed, rubbing her black hair, "right. Come along now Ayanokouji-Kun. We're starting the first day of studying now."

"Already?"

"Did you zone out during the meeting a few days ago? I decided that we should all start studying right away if we had any hope of defeating Ryuen-Kun."

"That does sound like something you would suggest."

"How funny. You pretend to be proactive but then goof-off with Ken-Kun during strategy meetings."

"I was proactive in arranging for you to help lead. Besides, you did fine anyways."

"Whatever. Let's go to the study group."
