In the middle of the night, my arms reach out for you. Your voice is furnished so cuttingly smooth in the crevices of my mind that it clatters, flustering my thoughts, twisting my brain raw.
Sometimes I like to think that you saved me from the gallows but when my nightmares come for me I remember I'm the only one that can rip their claws off of my ribs.
I don't remember what my life was like without you in it, yet somehow it is exactly the same.
