Chapter 13.5 - The Demons (Katsunori's POV)

"Katsunori! Where are you?!" I was dealing with one of the demons when I heard Shiro shout that. It was quite loud. Sometimes, I wish I could just make him shut up but I know that wouldn't be possible unless he died.

"Sorry Akuma, the kid I told you about is yelling for me." Akuma is one of the demons that I freed from one of the seals. She takes the form of a short middle schooler with long bangs that almost cover her eyes. She wears a cute, white dress and has the power to make ordinary objects. She used to be able to do more but after she had been sealed for creating weapons of mass destruction and using them, her power gradually decreased and her power limits to making ordinary objects like candy or money. Out of all the demons, I think she's the least dangerous but I had yet to see her full potential.

"Okay, I shall go then but may I ask a question?"

"Of course, Akuma."

"Why would you want money? That's such an ordinary item. If you want something the earthlings made, I'll just make it for you. What do you want? Candy? Clothes?"

"Well...I don't know what he wants. I think that stealing wouldn't leave a good impression on someone."

"Oooooh! Who are you trying to impress?"

"Ehh..." I didn't know if I should tell her. "No one, don't worry too much."

"Ahh! How romantic!"

"Ehh?"

"Aww, your face is turning red! I'll tell the others!"

"Akuma, don't."

"Don't be embarrassed Katsunori! We've been with you for practically your whole life. Well not really but still, we can give you advice, right?"

"Demons don't know about these things. Besides, last time you guys told me I should eat the candy that fell to the ground. That's bad advice, Akuma."

"Ehhhh, well, demons can't really get sick so sorry about that but we can definitely help you this time!"

I sighed. Akuma is really nice but she's just as noisy as the other demons. "Alright, alright, just give me the money."

"Okay!" Akuma's eyes turned white and her hands started to glow. The silhouette of a stack of money slowly appeared. Gradually, the light faded and Akuma's eyes turned back to black. "Done Katsunori! Have fun!" She winked and disappeared into my plasma ring.

I could tell Akuma was going to tell all the other demons living inside the plasma ring and they're going to make fun of me. I think they all know my unhealthy obsession with Kaito even though I never told them (It's mostly Akuma's fault, she should mind her own business).

I was just about to go back to the abandoned warehouse when my plasma ring started vibrating. I sighed. It was a sign that the demons wanted to come out and talk to me. I knew exactly what they wanted to say. It wasn't long before I released them from the ring.

"Who is it? Is it that kid, Kaito?"

"Mind your own business Makoto."

Makoto basically looks like a floating orb of purple gas. He possesses the ability to read minds and gives me advice on manipulation since he can see what a person's deepest fears and darkest secrets are. He kind of has a sassy, teenager personality and is somehow even more noisy than Akuma.

Makoto's color changed from purple to green. That's the sign that he's trying to read my mind. I tried blocking out my thoughts.

"Makoto, you know you can't read my mind right." Confidence is the key. He can't tell what I'm thinking if I'm confident right?

"Stop blocking your thoughts with useless pop ups...AHH! I found it!"

"Fuck you!" Sometimes the distractions don't work when Makoto's super focused.

"HA! I fucking knew it!" Makoto said. I could practically see him jumping up and down.

"Know what?" Yuto said.

Yuto's another demon. He takes the form of a short kindergartener wearing a blue sweater. He says he takes this form so he can observe information easier and teleport without making people suspicious and that he's actually very menacing and destroys planets but I think he's quite cute.

"Katsunori still has a crush on Kaito!" Akuma said excitedly, running around in circles. "Katsunori has a crush, Katsunori has a crush!"

I grabbed Akuma's arm and covered her mouth "Shush! He might hear you!"

"Did the bracelet work?" Yuto asked, fixing his tilted glasses. Akuma offered to make a new one but he insisted that he likes this one.

"Yes, now shush." I looked around to see if Akio's around. He's the first demon that I freed from the seal and is usually meaner than the other demons. I see him standing in the shadows, acting all mysterious with his suit, glowing eyes and tall horn. He pretends that he's so evil and mean when in reality, I know he likes marshmallows and fluffy things.

"Where's the date? When's the date? Are you just going with that? It's too informal." Makoto asked.

"There is no date, now hush." I was starting to get second hand embarrassment. What if Kaito could hear all of this? Thinking of Kaito made my stomach get those butterflies again.

"Your heart rate increased and your ears are turning red." Yuto analyzed. I quickly cover my ear

"Ahhh, this is so cute!" Akuma said, making a heart with her hands. "It has always been your dream! Sooner or later you're going to have a big wedding and-"

"That's it, you're all going back into the plasma ring." I held up my hand and they were all pulled back into the ring. I sighed. I don't even know if the plan's going to work but I need to do it. I want them to know what it feels to be betrayed, to be desperate, to feel like their whole world is destroyed but what about after that? I don't even know anymore.
