Vincent's pov:
"I know, but we need to act fast!" I try get my motion approved from Adrien, Leo and Chase. "Acting fast isn't gonna do shit! We need to wait it out." Chase slams his fist on the wooden table. This meeting has been going on for an hour already, even I'm starting to get drowsy.
"I agree with Vincent." Adrien gives me a subtle nod.
"If we wait it out then the British would have already attacked us and we would have no leads." Adrien explains. "But if we wait, then we can examine the British's actions from a distance and we can plot their next move!" Leo backs up Chase's point from before. "Why wait to plot their actions, when we could easily corner them at the warehouse tomorrow?" I rebuttal back.
This is a complete waste of my time.
"Because who knows if the spy we hired is even right? For all we know he could be setting us up for a massacre!" Chase bangs his fist again and stands up. "He isn't and he's been loyal, SINCE YOU WERE BORN! " I adjust my suit to cool down my temper. "Volume! Nat is sleeping upstairs remember?" Adrien corrects me.
"Right." I look back down as my facial expressions soften at the thought of her.
"I stand by my word, every bit of it." Chase bites back. "He's right, how do you know that the spy is really telling the truth?" Leo tilts his chair back and leans his feet up on the table. "Feet down, that's mahogany." Adrien demands, sounding like Mother. "You're acting like the twins." Adrien makes a reasonable comparison.
Chase and I let out a light chuckle although the atmosphere is tense.
"I honestly think that we shouldn't put all of our guys at the location. Instead, just send around 20 to 40 just incase." Leo comes up with a probable solution. "And let us come too!" Chase buts in. "No way, like I've previously said before, It's just going to be Adrien and I." I finalise.
"That isn't fair, we literally just helped you solve your problem and we can't even come?" Leo's brown furrow. "Correct." I sarcastically smile at the both of them. "Now, I recommend that you all get to bed as it's already 01:23 am." I conclude while Chase and Leo groan in retaliation. Adrien and I watch as they walk out first.
"They remind me of little Xavier and Xander." Adrien whispers into my ear, but loud enough for them to eavesdrop.
I let out a small laugh at his comment "We heard that!" Chase snarls as we walk up and out of the basement. "Good. You were meant to." Adrien slides me a subtle grin and I playfully nudge his shoulder. As we make our way upstairs to bed, an unexpected sound bellows through the hallways.
The doorbell.
The doorbell rarely rings, even when we have guests. The last time that it rung was when Nat's friend came over, Flynn fucking Rider. Since our mail is usually sent to the office, the doorbell is not heavily used. Hearing the unfamiliar sound brings an eery feeling to the house.
At this time too, something is definitely up.
We all pause and turn to face the front door. "Is it an ambush?" Leo's voice is laced with concern. "Hard to tell." I respond with my voice barely above a whisper. "Someone go check up on Nat." Adrien immediately calls out. "On it." Leo offers and is already halfway upstairs.
