Xander's pov:

"Dinner felt wrong without her." Chase daps his mouth with a napkin. "It felt wrong ever since she spilt that jug of water." I utter and shove my plate to the middle of the table. "She needs to eat too." I add on whilst my stomach contracts from all the sushi I ate. "When the apology is over and done with, then we can have a wholesome meal afterwards." Adrien sips his glass of water.

"What if she doesn't forgive us?" I voice out my worst nightmare to my brothers.

"She will. She'll come around." Vincent plasters a fake reassuring look on his face. Ever since he left Nat's room, he looks like he's on the verge of tears. In all honesty, I've never seen my eldest brother cry. Sure I've seen him anxious when Nat didn't come home or angry when she infiltrated our warehouse but other than that, the man doesn't show emotion.

Tonight will be the start of many firsts, perhaps maybe Vincent Morales crying will be on that list too.

"Let's get going. I don't want to keep her waiting." Xavier's leg bops up and down in a hurry. We all nod along and retreat to the sitting room. The tension in the room is removed as soon as our sister appears behind the corner. Huh? Although our staircase was marble, you could hear anyone come down the steps. Even a fly.

But why didn't we hear her footsteps? Did her body weight change that drastically?

Her pale skin sets red alarms off in my mind. She wore an oversized navy zip up from Ralph Lauren and grey sweatpants even though it was almost April. She shows no skin and only her hands are visible under her sleeves. Bare face with no makeup and her hair thrown up into a bun, as if it wasn't taken out for days.

The unfamiliar scent of weed leaves a trail behind her as she sits down on the standalone grey armchair. I smoked when I was pissed at something and would do it occasionally when my life was going to shit. Seeing my sister follow in my footsteps made me not want to be a role model, ever.

Right then and there I've decided to quit. Cold turkey.

Her eyes look lifeless. The once bright teal aura that they used to carry has now diminished into a melancholy cyan. She scrunches her nose and wipes it dry with her sleeve before bringing her legs up towards her chest. "Water?" Leo places a jug of water on the coffee table. Nat makes intense eye contact with Vincent and coldly says "I wouldn't want to damage any more furniture."

My eldest brother shudders at her icy tone as culpability chews him up.

"Are you hungry? Do you want chocolate? We have Cadbury's in the pantry." Adrien offers her favourite candy whilst sitting beside me and Chase on the sofa. "I'm full." She briefly states although she didn't come down for breakfast, lunch or dinner. "You didn't eat for the last two days." Leo voices out on the second couch with Xavier on it.
