Xander's pov:
"It's getting late we should go to sleep." Adrien urges us to our rooms.
Uh, I think the fuck not. "I'm not leaving till she walks through that door." Vincent grumbles and leans into his armchair. For once in my life, I actually agree with the old champ. We're all situated in the living room, awaiting Nat's arrival. I don't think I could even sleep with the thought of her not arriving home.
My stomach churns in anticipation.
My brothers have started talking about who could potentially be the mole but my mind drifts off to another scene. Nat breaking down in the pouring rain as Goldilocks grips onto her for dear life. They looked so vulnerable, which was odd due to the fact that they kicked ass during their entrance about an hour prior.
It shows how life can change in a heartbeat, just like that.
The picture of Nat panting as she tried to get oxygen into her lungs. Seb stroked her hair all whilst she let her tears loose. Their impressive clothes didn't match their feelings, not by the slightest. I couldn't imagine what Nat's going through. She always described Flynn as a brother and if I lost any single one of my family members, I'd be a broken record.
I couldn't imagine a life without any of them.
My older brother's voice pulls me out of a daze. "It can't be the Serbs, we share a long history with their grandfather." Leo backs up his claims. "Then who the hell is it?" Vincent gets relentless as it's been hours since we came back. "Well since Sunshine is the one being targeted, maybe we could ask her what enemies she's gathered over the years." Adrien's intelligently points out.
"You're assuming that she even wants to speak with us." Xavier sips on the beer in his spare hand.
"The girl just lost someone dear to her and this is all you guys talk about?" I scoff and shake my head in disapproval. "Look, the quicker we find out who it is, the quicker we-" The sound of our doorbell interrupts Chase's sentence and he immediately goes to check it out. The rest of us stay seated but the sound of the door opening and Nat's cries are a direct blow to my heart.
I close my eyes trying to drown her sobs out of my ears, if I hear one more I might just go down with her.
We all stand and wait as Blondie helps Nat to her bed. Chase comes back and sadly shakes his head in solemnity. A sudden urge rips through me, I need to know how she's coping. "Bad?" "Horrific." He replies with genuine sincerity. I hear deep thumps as Seb descends downstairs. I expect his footsteps to near towards the door but instead it comes closer towards us.
I have a bad feeling about this.
He storms in with a distraught face. Holy shit. His usual blonde hair is damp with water, the redness under his puffy eyes dull his usual perky self. Tear stains leave their mark against his flushed skin. Seb scans the room looking at all of us and immediately holds Vincent against a nearby wall.
Goldilocks's forearm against his neck.
We immediately draw our guns out at the slightest movement. "YOU COWARD! YOU DID THIS! HE'S GONE BECAUSE OF YOU!" Seb presses deeper against Vincent's flesh. His voice is coarse and laced with venom. "What on earth are you on about? We didn't do shit!" Vincent bites back and towers over Blondie once he stands back up.
"You didn't do shit? He died because the Americans shot him." He bitterly reveals in front of our shocked faces.
Was this Charles's idea all over again? "Oh don't you dare act as if you didn't know. I knew we were in deep shit when we signed up for it but this was too far." Goldilocks pants. "Breathe Seb." Adrien slowly approaches the mourning man. "He was only 17, his birthday was right around the corner." Tears spill against his scarlet facade as he slides down the wall.
