Third Person POV

"I can't believe we're in here." Neal kicked the dirt.

"Really? It was quite expected." Paro laid on her side while braiding her hair.

"We're in jail, dude." He rattled the bars. "This is not going according to plan."

"Well, we shouldn't even be here. This wasn't in the plans." Paro yawned.

"This is a harsh punishment. That was an unfair trial."

"Trial?" She snorted. "Bruh, we didn't even get to the trial. It was either Troian was gonna chop us up or we deal with a cell for a few days."

"On that matter, can you explain to me why Troian is still employed?" He spoke over his shoulder.

"Because she's apparently competent at her job. Not a people's person at all, but apparently that doesn't matter. Like who seriously does the employee reviews because that person needs to be fired!"

"I'll lodge my complaint to Ajax." Neal spat.

"As if he has a say!" Paro laughed. "If he could review her, it'd only be right for her to do the same. And then they'd end up firing each other." She giggled, causing him to crack a smile. "That would be the worse decision ever!"

"That's true." He nodded. "This is so boring. What should we do to pass the time?"

"This isn't our first time in the cells, you big baby."

"I know. But, we never had to stay in here for long." He sat next to her. "What do they even feed here?"

"Oooooooh, is the food here not up to your standards, oh great one." She joked.

"Definitely not." He grumbled.

"Here." She handed him some bread.

"Where did you get this?" He pointed the bread at her.

"You shouldn't be surprised that I swiped stuff from the kitchens."

"You truly have sticky hands." He took a bite.

"Not sticky hands, but just quick reflexes." She grinned at him.

"Whatever." He rolled his eyes.

The pair were jolted awake by a gong. Paro clutched her chest from the pounding of her heart. Neal rubbed his ringing ears and glared at the guards before him. Two guards pointed weapons at them as another opened the cell door. The guard then slapped cuffs on their wrists and forced them to leave the cells.

They were put in a line with the other prisoners. After everyone was accounted for, the guards led them outside and to an arena. Paro looked around and noticed guards stationed at different towers. They signaled to the other guards before the chains magically dropped from their wrists.

"Huh, seems like this is recess." Neal rubbed his wrists.

"Wonder how they ensure no one escapes." Paro spoke.

"Oh, you see those?" Neal pointed at different statues. "They are magical tomes that cause an invisible barrier. We're locked inside."

"What about the guards?" Paro noticed no guards were inside.

"When no one is paying attention, they break one of the barriers to enter." He whispered.

"Ahh, so we just have to wait until then."

"Ya, no." Neal shook his head. "It'll be next to impossible to escape with all those guards."

Paro shrugged and walked around the enclosure. Neal chased after her and looked around the arena as well. Paro eyed the exercise equipment in contempt. It was more of a calisthenics set up. Neal looked around and noticed one of the prisoners giving him killer eyes.
