Third Person POV
The midday sun hung high in the sky, casting a warm glow over the bustling streets of the market square. Kevi skipped alongside her father, Ajax. Her hand firmly clasped in his as they made their way through the maze of stalls and vendors.
"Come on, Appa, let's go check out the toy store!" Kevi exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she tugged on Ajax's hand.
Ajax chuckled at his daughter's enthusiasm, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "We'll get there, Kevi, but first we need to pick up a few things for Moer," he replied, gently guiding her towards a nearby fruit stand.
Kevi wrinkled her nose in distaste at the sight of the fruits and vegetables on display, her attention quickly wandering to the colorful array of toys in the distance. "But shopping for Moer is boring, Appa," she complained, her voice filled with childish petulance. "Can't we just go play instead?"
Ajax sighed, shaking his head in exasperation. "We'll play later, Kevi, I promise," he replied, trying to keep the frustration out of his voice. "But right now, Moer needs us to help her out."
Kevi pouted, but reluctantly followed Ajax as he began to select various fruits and vegetables from the stand. She watched with a mixture of boredom and impatience as he carefully inspected each item, his brow furrowed in concentration.
As they made their way through the market square, Kevi's attention was suddenly caught by the sight of a flower stall nestled in a shady alcove. "Appa, look!" she exclaimed, pointing towards the colorful blooms on display. "Can we buy some flowers for Moer?"
Ajax's heart melted at his daughter's thoughtfulness, a warm smile spreading across his face. "Of course, Kevi," he replied, reaching into his pocket for a handful of coins. "Pick out whichever ones you like."
Kevi's eyes lit up with delight as she carefully selected a bouquet of vibrant flowers, her small hands clutching them tightly as they continued on their way. Ajax couldn't help but feel a surge of love for his daughter as he watched her skip along beside him, her laughter echoing through the crowded streets.
As they approached the toy store, Kevi's excitement reached a fever pitch, her eyes alight with anticipation as she dragged Ajax towards the entrance. "Come on, Appa, let's go find the coolest toys ever!" she exclaimed, practically bouncing with excitement.
Ajax chuckled at his daughter's enthusiasm as he watched her dart inside the store. Inside the store, Kevi wasted no time in exploring every nook and cranny, her eyes widening with wonder at the vast array of toys on display. She squealed with delight as she discovered a section filled with stuffed animals, her arms quickly filling with an assortment of cuddly creatures.
Ajax watched indulgently as Kevi flitted from one toy to the next, her laughter filling the air like music. He couldn't help but marvel at her boundless energy and enthusiasm.
As they made their way through the store, Ajax's thoughts drifted to his wife, Lily, who was waiting for them at home. He knew that she had been feeling overwhelmed lately, with their busy schedules leaving little time for the two of them to spend together.
Ajax made a mental note to plan a special evening for just the two of them, a chance to reconnect and remind her how much she meant to him. But as he glanced down at Kevi, her face flushed with excitement as she examined a particularly colorful toy, he couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt.
He had been so focused on providing for his family, so preoccupied with the daily struggles of life, that he had forgotten to cherish the moments they shared together. He resolved then and there to make more time for Kevi, to be present in her life in a way that he had never been before.
As they left the toy store, Kevi chattered excitedly about all the toys she had seen, her eyes shining with joy. Ajax smiled, his heart filled with love for his daughter as they made their way back home.
As they walked, Kevi suddenly turned to Ajax, a mischievous glint in her eye. "Appa, when can I start dating?" she asked, her voice innocent but tinged with curiosity.
Ajax's heart skipped a beat at the question, his mind racing as he struggled to come up with a response. He had never considered the possibility of her dating. Wait, scratch that! He didn't want to live in a world where his daughter would be dating anyone!
"I... I don't know, Kevi," he replied, his voice hesitant. "Why do you ask?"
Kevi shrugged, her expression thoughtful. "Well, Moer's always telling me stories about how you two met and fell in love," she explained, her words coming out in a rush. "And I want to do that with a boy!" She said in a singsong voice.
"No." He sternly spoke.
"What do you mean no?"
"I... I don't think I'm ready for that yet, Kevi," He replied.
"But, why?! Boys are so cute!" She grinned when he clenched his jaw.
"Is that so?" His grip tightened a bit around her hand.
"Yep! They are the cutest ever!"
"Fine. I can deal with cute." He grunted out.
"Mmhmm." She nodded. "I even have a boyfriend!"
"WHAT?!" He was enraged. A couple of passers by jumped in shock from the general's outburst. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!"
"He asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes."
"What is this boy's name?" He sneered.
"Ha! I'm just kidding, Appa." She hysterically laughed and hugged his leg. "I've no boyfriend!"
"Keep it that way." He curtly replied.
"Okay."
"Swear it." He ordered to which she nodded. Ajax knelt down so he could hug her and kiss her cheeks before placing one on her nose. She repeated the action and smiled widely at him. "Promise is sealed."
"Yep, because why have one boyfriend when you can have many!"
Ajax froze with his mouth open while Kevi skipped passed him. Kevi then began singing off the names of boys that liked her. What got Ajax's attention was when she mentioned kissing a boy.
"Paraskevi! WHO IS JENTZEN?!" He ran after her.
