The Before [Prequel- Part 1]

New Reality

~~~Catherine's pov~~~

Eight hours and a lot of drama later, I found myself sitting outside the compound infirmary, staring at my dad and Pepper through the glass viewing window.

After he collapsed, Bruce gave my dad a sedative to keep him asleep until he could recover more, but that meant he would be unconscious for the next two days at the very least.

It was hard to keep my emotions in check seeing as how I had just been in Pepper's situation earlier that same day.

That's why Loki was sitting beside me. To make sure that all the craziness of the day didn't somehow seriously affect me or the baby.

The incident with my dad wasn't exactly what made the day crazy, however.

As it turns out, the lady that brought my dad back from space, Carol, offered to take the team up into space to track down Thanos and try to use the Infinity Stones to reverse all the damage he caused.

For obvious reasons, I wasn't cleared for space travel, and if I wasn't going, I sure as hell wasn't letting Loki go without me. Not after the month I've had.

Unfortunately, the space expedition was a disaster.

They found Thanos, but when they did, they found out that he destroyed the stones.

The alien bastard destroyed the only objects capable of bringing back the trillions of people he murdered.

Loki had been with me when they told us the news, and I could tell he wanted nothing more than to kill Thanos himself, but Thor had already taken care of that.

Thanos may have been gone, but so was our chance of bringing back our lost loved ones.

This was our new reality. We just had to learn to accept it and adapt.

Telling myself this didn't silence the questions still rattling around my brain and I couldn't help but ask myself one thing.
